Aircraft Stress Engineer Jobs in Savannah, Georgia

STS Technical Services is hiring an Aircraft Stress Engineer in Greensboro, North Carolina. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge aircraft structures, providing expert analysis, certification, and testing for metallic and composite primary structures. Job Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in stress analysis for metallic primary structures
  • Provide leadership and guidance to contract and associate stress engineers working on certification, analysis, and structural testing
  • Perform stress analysis using both classic hand analysis methods (Bruhn, Peery, Roark, ESDU) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools
  • Prepare certification stress reports, collaborate with FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs), and oversee structural testing
  • Present analysis and assumptions in a clear, data-driven manner to management and regulatory bodies
  • Take ownership of assigned projects and ensure successful completion within deadlines
  • Provide technical recommendations and status updates to leadership

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering required (Master’s degree preferred)
  • FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) certification is a plus (14 CFR Part 23/25)

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience in aircraft structural analysis, certification, and testing
  • Proficiency in 3D solid modeling software (CATIA v5, Unigraphics)
  • Strong programming skills in Python, VB, and MATLAB
  • Expertise in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools such as NASTRAN and ABAQUS
  • Strong proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to work in an aerospace environment with exposure to noise, dust, aircraft parts, and fuel odors
  • Capability to stand, sit, squat, bend, climb ladders, and stretch for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, push, and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to read, hear, speak, and comprehend safety instructions and technical information
  • Adherence to all regulatory safety requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, and state/federal regulations)
