STS Technical Services is hiring Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanics in Lincoln, Nebraska. 

Position Overview:

The Airframe Structures Technician III, with advanced knowledge and high level skills, performs repairs to sheet metal and composite components on a variety of airframes in a safe and clean work environment according to manufacturer’s specifications, Duncan Aviation approved procedures, and customer specifications. In addition, this position performs effective troubleshooting of the structural related tasks; trains lesser experienced technicians through the OJT process; prepares and completes appropriate documentation in a timely manner; and may perform as a Qualified Inspector (QI).

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs repairs in compliance with Service Bulletins (SB’s) and Airworthiness Directives (AD’s) and standard fabrication practices of sheet metal and composite components at a superior level of quality, craftsmanship, and efficiency. of aircraft in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications, Duncan Aviation approved procedures, and customer specifications in a timely manner in a clean, safe and professional manner with minimal rework. Makes sound technical decisions as a technician and when functioning as Qualified Inspector (QI). Accurately order general aircraft parts as needed.
  • Performs troubleshooting, fitting and installation of the most complex structural assemblies. Proposes and seeks approval for alternate installation and fabrication processes as needed to complete the task to the highest degree of quality and efficiency.
  • Prepares various documents for record keeping purposes, as required by Company policy and FAA regulations (i.e. turnovers, removal sheets, personal training log, etc.). Demonstrates proficiency of Duncan Aviation work order system, service plans, Tracker and outside maintenance tracking programs by completing accurate and timely discrepancies and corrective action statements, Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives (AD) Compliance statements, final inspection and closing of squawks and work orders.
  • Willingly and effectively shares knowledge and capabilities with less experienced technicians through OJT to foster their development, ensure accurate work, and support of the team’s goals.
  • Proficiently and consistently locates and uses the appropriate technical data to accomplish any and all tasks.
  • In the absence of the lead technician, accepts ownerships of the work scope and established milestones relative to the successful and timely completion of these projects.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by management.

Job Specific Requirements:

  • Licenses/Certificates: Airframe or Repairman’s Certificate required; Powerplant Certificate preferred; valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; Respirator Fit qualified; Man Lift qualified; QI designation; tool inventory per department tool list required
  • Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required; occasional overnight and short notice travel required
  • Physical: Routinely lifts up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.; reads small print; hears sounds associated with mechanical deficiencies; repetitive motion; works with moving parts and vibration; tolerates products, materials and fumes associated with component maintenance; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting
  • Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and in noisy environments

Education & Experience:

  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Five years sheet metal or aircraft maintenance experience required
