STS Technical Services is hiring CNC Milling Operators in Dodge Center, Minnesota.

Job Summary:

Experienced CNC Milling Operator to work closely with a small team of Engineers, Assembly Technicians, Fabricators, Designers, and Mechanics to manufacture customer goods daily. This position requires the ability to set-up CNC equipment, read blueprints, change tools, safely operate machines, and perform routine maintenance. The candidate will execute the requirements of the work orders and process machined components accordingly in a highly professional manner. The candidate should have the ability to check his/her own work and be very detail oriented to ensure a “world class” product as well as meet deadlines and document progress. The candidate must also be dependable, time conscious and work efficiently to achieve department goals on a weekly basis with minimal supervision.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Good understanding of CNC mills, tooling and equipment
  • Ability to interface with other departments to accomplish tasks
  • Ability to use Windows based computers (email, general software, MS Excel, etc.)
  • Must follow instructions precisely and consistently in an ISO 9001 environment.
  • Ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing
  • Able to perform in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Work safely to comply with all business expectations

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience running and setting up CNC mills
  • Ability to read blueprints and experience with GD&T symbols
  • Ability to set up tools and perform CNC setups (decide upon appropriate fixturing, etc.)
  • Experience with using micrometers, calipers, bore gages, height gauges and other metrology equipment
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage his/her own work load to achieve meet important deadlines
  • Mechanical skills including the ability to use all common machine tools and hand tools
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs and stand most of the day while working 40 hour work week (Day shift) with overtime paid as needed
  • Ability to pass a McNeilus weld standard test
  • Ability to learn assemblies with electrical and hydraulics components on refuse trucks
  • Ability to work on refuse trucks as needed when machining work is not being done.
  • Ability to drive Refuse trucks on site.
  • Ability to drive forklift or other equipment
  • Ability to work with multiple teams such as shop floor, test, engineering, hands on work. Which maybe outside the scope of a machinist.
  • Able to take multiple directions from Supervisor, and Engineering teams as the scope of the day can change.
  • Experience on machinery but not limited to:
    • Daito Saw
    • Birmingham leath
    • Pro mill
    • Sharp Mill
    • Accura press
    •  Baileigh Pipe bender
    • Plasma Table
    • Baileigh pipe bender
    • Various Saws
  • Some fabrication work will be needed such as working with pipe bender or a press which can include the use of welders and hand tools.
  • Must be flexible with schedule to accommodate fixed deadlines sometimes working Saturday and or Sunday

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience operating horizontal CNC mills and Fanuc controls is a plus
  • Previous experience utilizing MasterCAM is a plus
  • Preferred prior experience in an ISO quality environment

Working Conditions:

  • Physical Demands: Frequent Standing, Walking/Running, Reaching, Driving, Bending/Kneeling, Hearing, Talking, Visual, Manual Dexterity; Occasional Climbing, Typing, Fine Dexterity, Lifting/Carrying and Pushing/Pulling up to 50lbs.; Seldom Sitting, Upper Extremity Repetitive Motion.
