STS Technical Services is hiring Field Service Technicians in New Berlin, Wisconsin.

Position Summary:

STS Technical Services is actively seeking Field Service Technicians (Industrial Automation). This position performs a wide variety of highly technical duties to  assist our customers at their locations and over the telephone/internet. The field service technician is responsible for providing service and customer support during site visits, managing all on site installation, repair, maintenance, and testing. Also, responsible for diagnosing errors or technical problems and determining proper solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Commissions supplied process control systems at customer sites.
  • Troubleshoots supplied process control systems and their electromechanical interfaces at customer sites and via telephone/internet.
  • Trains customer operators and technicians on the supplied customer systems, both in house and on site.
  • Works with engineering and test departments to understand upgrades, enhancements, and new product offers in preparation for commissioning and troubleshooting.
  • Documents field information on technical issues, changes that could streamline installation, customer attitude toward products, customer enhancement requests, and sales leads.
  • Works with engineering and others to resolve difficult customer issues.
  • Follows up on all open customer issues until resolution is confirmed.
  • Receives incoming technical support calls when in-house from customers and resolves their issues in a timely manner.
  • Assists test department when required to help get new systems shipped in a timely manner.
  • Participates in customer training seminars as required.
  • Conforms to all Policies and Procedures as directed by the Director of Technical Services.
  • Performs other miscellaneous tasks as requested by the Director of Technical Service.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in electronics technology.
  • At least three years’ experience in commissioning and troubleshooting process controls is preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be familiar with computer hardware and software applications (VB & SQL general knowledge). A good working knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs, Wonderware HMI, Windows and Networking.
