STS Technical Services is hiring Highly Accelerated Life Testing / Qualification Testing Leads in Sterling Heights, Michigan.

Position Overview:

The Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT)/Qualification Testing Lead is a key role within the Product Assurance & Test team, focused at delivering the highest levels of component reliability and functionality to the platform and crew for the Next Generation Combat Vehicle/Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle (NGCV/OMFV) program.


  • Manage HALT/QUAL test personnel in planning, performance and documentation of testing.
  • Specify and lead both system level, subsystem, component HALT, qualification, and Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) testing.
  • Manage development of standard test procedures and methodologies.
  • Responsible for all elements (cost, schedule and performance) of the HALT/QUAL test team.
  • Develop vendor SOWs for the execution of HALT/QUAL testing
  • Develop, write, and manage test documentation (test plans, test procedures, test reports, test logs, etc.)
  • Manage the test team’s workload, conduct team meetings, assign projects, set priorities and monitor progress
  • Manage relationships with all stakeholders to ensure performance is optimized and be able to manage the political dimensions associated with a high profile program
  • Support and adhere to all company safety and environmental regulations & policies
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Undertake other duties as determined by the PA&T Manager &Engineering Director or his/her delegate

Job Requirements:


  • BSc in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems) or equivalent work experience
  • MSc in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems), desired


  • 5+ years’ relevant experience
  • Experience in delivering large complex US Defense programs
  • Understands the Automotive Tank Purchase Description (ATPD)-2404B Interface Standard – environmental conditions for the heavy brigade combat team of tracked vehicle systems
  • Applied working knowledge with a proven track record of delivery
  • Familiarity with the US DoD ground vehicle requirements.
  • Experience of working in a multi-national, multi-organizational and corporate environment.
  • Knowledge of the US DoD process and procedures for vehicle development and procurement.
  • Familiarity with the US Army TACOM / TARDEC.
  • Detailed knowledge in Systems Engineering and related Standards/ Processes
  • Practical ‘hands on’ attitude with the ability to operate independently.
  • Experience with contract negotiations
  • Detailed knowledge of Military Standards and regulations.
  • Ability to present technical solutions to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience with engineering and supply chain management in a highly regulated industry.

  • Drive for Results: High level of self-motivation and standards with the ability to multi-task; balancing “analysis” with “doing”. Must be adaptable and able to prioritize and work under pressure to meet deadlines. Work on own initiative.
