STS Technical Services is hiring Inside Service Technicians in New Berlin, Wisconsin.

Position Summary:

The service technician is tasked with offering inside technical service support for existing automation control systems via telephone and remote access. The technician manages incoming technical support calls, ensuring issues are resolved promptly and documented correctly. It is essential for the technician to diagnose complex technical issues and convey them to others when additional engineering support is required. Technicians are also required to be available for 24-hour customer support through phone and laptop on a rotation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle incoming technical support calls and resolve issues swiftly.
  • On rotation, carry the 24-hour support phone and laptop to address customer concerns during off-hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Monitor and ensure the resolution of all open customer issues.
  • Identify technical errors or problems and determine the right solutions.
  • Create detailed service reports in a timely manner.
  • Document processes accurately.
  • Collaborate with the technical team and disseminate information throughout the company.
  • Understand customer needs and provide appropriate recommendations.
  • Participate in customer training seminars when necessary.
  • Undertake other tasks as directed by the Director of Technical Service.
  • Occasionally travel as part of the role.
  • Keep workspaces tidy and organized.
  • Adhere to all company procedures and protocols.
  • Establish and nurture positive customer relationships.

  • Use of Technology: Stay updated with new technologies, troubleshoot tech problems, and leverage technology for productivity.


  • Education/Experience: Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or 6 months to 1 year of related experience and/or training in electronics technology; or a mix of education and experience.
  • Language Ability: Capable of reading and interpreting technical journals and responding to inquiries or complaints. Proficiency in Spanish is a bonus.
  • Reasoning Ability: Able to define problems, gather data, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Computer Skills: Familiarity with computer hardware and software applications like VB & SQL. Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs, Wonderware HMI, Windows, and Networking is essential.
  • Other Skills: Proficient in electrical control wiring.
