Logistics Managers Direct Hire

Right now, ARAUCO is hiring Logistics Managers in Grayling, Michigan!

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for managing the execution and coordination of all transportation/shipping, production line scheduling, warehousing, purchasing, packaging, takeaway and storeroom activities within the mill. Takes into consideration efficiency and cost effectiveness. Develop and maintain relationships with third party carriers, sales and production lines. Responsible for managing the Supply Chain process in order to ensure an optimal service level to customers. This position is expected to track & analyze orders over the entire Supply Chain, while coordinating action plans with Sales and Operations to improve the area KPI. Is responsible for the measurement and improvement of performance in various areas of the supply chain.

Description of Essential Duties:

  • Provides oversight to areas of responsibility so the mill is appropriately scheduled, product is package, stored safety and shipped on time
  • Supervise, mentor and develop skills of the all staff
  • Manage order tracking on the overall supply chain
  • Provides oversight to ensure good warehouse management practices are employed, units are stored in a safe manner and good housekeeping practices are in place
  • Provides oversight to ensure all units produced packaged for professional, neat appearance and with no damage
  • Ensures all staff are trained to safely execute their assigned duties
  • Proactively work with Planning and Chartering in South America on action plans to prioritize customer orders
  • Ensures world class ship-on-time performance
  • Design key monthly/weekly reporting and presentations to analyze the operations
  • Develop the tools to provide the organization with the proper visibility of the supply chain
  • Understand sales & operational challenges
  • Explore supply chain opportunities to better serve customers
  • Manage special projects requiring knowledge and understanding of sales and supply chain processes
  • Develop permanent solutions to operating/logistical problems
  • Works closely with the Sales and Customer Service Teams on all areas related to quality, delivery, production and ordering
  • The goal is continuously improve service to customers.
  • Provides strong leadership to Schedulers, Packaging, Purchasing, Storeroom, Warehouse and Shipping Staff in a manner that supports participation, open communication, and create a self-directed team
  • Supports Coordinators/Departments in the resolution of production related and quality problems
  • Sets up standards of performance, measures progress, controls interdepartmental work flow, analyzes delays or serious problems and takes action
  • Resolve problems concerning transportation or customer issues
  • Liaise and negotiate with transportation suppliers
  • Provides oversight to ensure staffing schedules meet the business needs
  • Oversight for cycle counts and best practices for managing inventory levels
  • Works closely with Finance on this responsibility

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics Management, Supply Chain, Business or a related field. Master’s degree, preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years’ of logistics/transportation experience with positions of increasing responsibility and leadership
  • Exceptional knowledge of MS Excel software is preferred
  • Experience in Microsoft Office & SAP preferred
  • Demonstrate leadership skills, have ability to energize team and work in a team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, both timelines and budget
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning and organizational skills

Key Safety/Housekeeping Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance with all safety regulations and requirements for areas of ownership
  • Participates in Safety Audits
  • Ensure a clean and safe work place (continuously improving)
  • Ensures all Trucker Safety Orientations are conducted

Budget Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Shipping, Packaging, Warehousing, Storeroom and Purchasing budget items
  • Provides oversight for research, selection, and procurement to best meet Company budget
  • Participates in the development of annual operating budget and capital plans for facility as they relate to the Warehousing and Shipping Areas
