STS Technical Services is now offering Mechanics (All levels) jobs in Virginia, Minnesota.

Job Overview:

The Mechanic will work directly under the supervision of a Leadperson and/or Supervisor in a shop or field environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Level I Mechanic:

  • Primary focus on a safe work environment and employing safe work practices on a consistent basis.
  • Assist in laying out and performing repairs with accuracy and quality.
  • Assist with assessing equipment repair needs and repair processes.
  • Troubleshooting, maintaining and performing minor repairs to most assigned tooling.
  • Assist with equipment component rebuilds and gear box rebuilds
  • Assist with processing parts (inspect, clean, deem reusable or scrap)
  • Working in a diverse team environment.

Level II Mechanic:

  • Laying out and performing repairs with accuracy and quality with minimal supervision.
  • Assessing equipment repair needs and repair processes.
  • Troubleshooting, maintaining and performing minor repairs to assigned tooling.
  • Equipment component rebuilds, e.g. gear box rebuilds

Level III Mechanic:

  • Laying out and performing repairs with accuracy and quality without supervision.
  • Troubleshooting, maintaining and performing repairs to assigned tooling.
  • Ability to understand scope of job and direct multiple people in completion of job.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly and engineering prints.
  • Ability to drive process and/or design improvements.
  • Work with QA/QC to Develop Best Practices.

Level IV Mechanic:

  • Ability to direct multiple people in compliance with job scope.
  • Read and interpret all assembly and engineering prints.
  • Lead person backup.

Technical Skill Requirements:

Level I Mechanic:

  • Forklift Task Trained
  • Fire Extinguisher Task Trained
  • Confined Space Task Trained
  • LOTO Task Trained
  • Fall Protection Task Trained
  • Crane Task Trained
  • Certified Rigging
  • MSHA Certified
  • Print Reading

Level II Mechanic:

  • Meet Mechanic Level I requirements
  • Use of Laser Aligner, Micrometer, Caliper and Bore Gauges with minimal supervision.
  • General Knowledge of Product Line

Level III Mechanic:

  • Meet Mechanic Level II requirements
  • Advanced Print Reading
  • Conduct Mag Particle Inspections

Level IV Mechanic:

  • Meet Mechanic Level III requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of and use of laser aligner, micrometer, caliper and bore gauges with ability to assist others.
  • Train the Trainer Qualified

Physical Requirements:

  • Moderate physical demand, continuous lifting or moving light weight to moderate weight materials and working in difficult work positions.

EHS Requirements:

  • Current MSHA, valid driver license and able to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical job requirements.
  • Consistently promotes the Safety First attitude which includes but is not limited to:
  • Understands and complies with all established Cardinal Rules
  • Working safely, promoting the safety of coworkers
  • Constantly looking for ways to improve and maintain a safe working environment by completing FLRA’s, Near Miss Cards and Safety Observations.

Education and Experience:

  • Associates or Millwright degree preferred but not required.
  • 1 – 2 years related mechanical experience.
  • Entry Level Application of trade mathematics.
  • Entry Level Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, charts, tables, handbook formulas
  • Entry Level Ability to use precision measuring instruments: mag particle tester, micrometer, laser aligner, caliper and bore gauges.
  • Flexible work schedule.
