STS Technical Services is hiring Shop Supervisors in Savannah, Georgia.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the direction, coordination and evaluation of all employees on assigned shift.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and problem resolution.
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in repairing terminal equipment to ensure Terminal equipment functions properly and remains in good working order.
  • Perform analytical diagnosis of malfunctions, determine correlation and patterns, and suggest changes in order to alleviate problems.
  • Direct workers in mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic maintenance and repair of tractors.
  • Prepare schedules for personnel and assign personnel to specific repair and maintenance work.
  • Direct workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing components.
  • Study schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet schedules.
  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
  • Interpret specifications and job orders to workers and assign duties.
  • Recommends measure to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department or work crew.
  • Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in problem resolution.
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintain records of work hours, parts utilized, and work performed.  Prepare related reports as needed.
  • Organize and maintain file system.  File correspondence and other records.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Strong problem-solving skills are required as well as the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must possess own tools.
  • Must possess a current drivers’ license and be insurable under the company’s automobile insurance coverage.
  • High school diploma or GED and four years related experience and/or training.
  • Qualified to perform DOT inspections.
  • Proficient with Cummins Insite diagnostic program.
  • Basic computer skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferably able to perform all job functions of a Class “A” Mechanic.
  • ASE Certifications
  • College or Trade school certifications.
  • Microsoft Office
