Military Vehicle Mechanic/Welder

STS Technical Services is hiring Welders in Temple, Texas.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Military Vehicle Welder to join our team. The primary responsibility of this position is to perform MIG-Aluminum welding on military vehicles, comprising approximately 95% of the workload. Additionally, you will be required to perform MIG-Steel and Stainless Steel welding tasks, constituting about 5% of the job. During downtime, Welders will also be expected to engage in various mechanical tasks and vehicle installations.

Responsibilities:

• MIG Welding: Perform high-quality MIG-Aluminum welding on military vehicles according to specifications and welding codes.
• MIG-Steel and Stainless Steel Welding: Execute welding tasks using MIG techniques on steel and stainless steel components when necessary.
• Safety: Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment and maintaining a safe work environment.
• Quality Control: Inspect welds and workpieces for quality and make necessary adjustments to maintain the highest standards.
• Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance and care for welding equipment to ensure it functions correctly.
• Diverse Welding Tasks: Engage in various welding-related tasks, including cutting, grinding, and metal fabrication.
• Mechanical Work: During downtime or as required, perform mechanical tasks such as vehicle maintenance, repairs, and installations.
• Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with team members, including engineers and other technicians, to achieve project goals and timelines.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of welding projects, inspections, and any necessary documentation.
• Training: Participate in a four-week training program in Pennsylvania to enhance welding skills and meet company standards. Pass a weld test after initial training.

Qualifications:

• 5 years proven experience as a Welder, with a focus on MIG-Aluminum welding.
• Proficiency in MIG-Steel and Stainless Steel welding techniques.
• Knowledge of welding codes and standards.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Strong attention to detail and quality control.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong commitment to safety practices.
• Flexibility to perform other mechanical tasks during downtime.
• Willingness to travel for training and occasional work assignments.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Physical ability to lift and move heavy materials and equipment.

Preferred Skills:

• Welding certification or relevant training programs.
• Previous experience with military vehicle welding projects.
• Familiarity with military vehicle systems and components.
