Shift Schedule: Monday through Friday on a rotating shift (early, late, or core hours between 0700–2300)
Reports To: Logistics Manager – BHX USAF E7
STS Aviation Services is hiring Logistics Goods Receipt Operatives to join our dynamic team at Birmingham Airport in support of the USAF E7 programme. This is a key role that ensures the efficient handling, inspection, and movement of critical aircraft components and materials within our base maintenance facility.
Role Overview
As a Logistics Goods Receipt Operative, you will be responsible for managing goods receipt, performing internal quality checks, supporting inventory and stock control, and maintaining high service levels across the STS and Boeing logistics network. You will also provide backup support to the Stock Controller, help train new staff, and contribute to process improvements that ensure operational readiness and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out goods receipt operations, including inspection of parts for quantity, condition, and certification
- Safely handle and transport kits and parts between Unit 9/10 and BHX Main Hangar (airside and non-airside)
- Support all STS and Boeing logistics processes and escalate concerns as they arise
- Attend daily work allocation briefings and ensure timely responses to logistics communications
- Complete internal assurance checks and comply with SOPs for parts quarantine and release
- Update and maintain handover notes at the end of each shift
- Manage the parts shortage sheet and maintain stock visibility
- Deputise for the Stock Controller during absence, liaising with Boeing and managing KPI reports
- Use Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and company software to track parts and inventory
- Conduct Return to Stock (RTS) operations and manage physical movement of inventory
- Train and onboard new team members by delivering hands-on logistics training and competency assessments
- Operate MHE (including forklifts) safely as required, adhering to all safety guidelines and risk assessments
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Demonstrable experience in logistics operations
- Full UK driving licence
- Solid understanding of process development within logistics and calibration management
- Knowledge of aviation logistics principles and practices
- Prior experience in a commercial environment
- Familiarity with PROMRO and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- MHE licence preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent attention to detail, adaptability, and stakeholder engagement
