STS Technical Services is hiring Welder III professionals in West Point, Mississippi. This role supports welding operations for military and commercial vehicles on an assembly line using Gas Metal Arc Welding and/or Flux Cored Arc Welding processes.

Job Summary
The Welder III will weld military and commercial vehicles on an assembly line according to specifications and safety regulations. This position is responsible for joining, fabricating and repairing metal and other weldable materials by applying proper welding techniques and using various welding devices.
Responsibilities
- Weld and assemble metal pieces and products using handheld welding equipment
- Set up welding machines and parts for welding
- Use hand tools, clamps, jigs and fixtures
- Work from specifications and follow work instructions
- Understand basic weld symbols
- Prepare and complete work on materials by welding, cutting, grinding and cleaning metal
- Ensure sufficient materials are available before starting each project
- Inspect own work
- Understand basic weld defects and acceptance criteria
- Utilize standard fillet weld gauge
- Follow Welding Procedure Specification machine settings
- Measure and cut materials to specifications
- Weld materials using correct processes to join metals together
- Check finished work to ensure it falls within tolerances
- Follow all safety regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification required
- Certificate from a combination welding program accepted
- All candidates must pass a welder qualification test prior to employment
- Valid welding certificate from an accredited institution preferred
- Experience or previous certifications in GMAW or FCAW welding processes is a plus
- Minimum of 2 years of welding experience on heavy-duty trucks, trailers or similar equipment
- 2 years of experience welding armor material on military vehicles is a plus
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment and manual tools
- Ability to read and interpret welding work instructions
- Ability to understand basic weld symbol designs
- Strong attention to detail
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis
- Ability to work in extreme cold and hot temperatures
- Ability to squat, kneel, push and pull
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
Authorization
Candidates must be U.S. citizens or hold a current valid U.S. green card authorizing work in the United States.
Tier Qualifications
Tier I
- Must pass a 2G Horizontal Groove welder qualification test per AWS D1.1 2020 using the GMAW and/or FCAW process
Tier II
- Must pass a 3G Vertical Groove welder qualification test per AWS D1.1 2020 using the GMAW and/or FCAW process
Tier III
- Must pass a 4G Overhead welder qualification test per AWS D1.1 2020 using the GMAW and/or FCAW process
