STS Technical Services is hiring a Senior Avionics Systems Engineer in Memphis, Tennessee.

Position Summary

STS Technical Services is seeking a highly experienced Senior Avionics Systems Engineer to support an Aircraft Engineering team in Memphis, Tennessee. This role focuses on aircraft communications systems, including Rockwell Collins CMU, ACARS over IP, and avionics integration on Boeing 767 platforms.

This is a hands-on engineering role requiring deep technical expertise, combined with the ability to mentor engineers, lead training sessions, and deliver production-ready software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver 44 structured mentoring and training sessions to engineering staff
  • Conduct weekly technical sessions on:
    • CMU operation and limitations
    • CMU programming and configuration
  • Define and document technical requirements for:
    • Integration of Aircraft Interface Device with CMU
    • Implementation of ACARS over Internet Protocol
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, including:
    • Diagnosing PUSH request failures
    • Eliminating CMU-related causes
    • Achieving 90% reliability during testing
  • Develop and deliver two production-ready CMU software releases for Boeing 767 aircraft
  • Support implementation under FedEx Engineering Orders

Required Qualifications

  • Strong experience in avionics systems engineering
  • Deep knowledge of:
    • Rockwell Collins Communications Management Unit
    • ACARS and aircraft data communications systems
  • Experience with aircraft systems integration including AID and avionics interfaces
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex avionics and system-level issues
  • Experience developing or supporting certified avionics software releases
  • Ability to lead technical training and mentor engineering teams
  • Strong documentation and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on Boeing 767 or similar aircraft
  • Familiarity with ACARS over IP implementations
  • Prior experience supporting cargo or airline operations environments
  • Background working with OEMs or avionics suppliers
