Supply Chain Group Leader Jobs in Tonawanda, New York

STS Technical Services is hiring a Parts Expediter in West Point, Mississippi, to support production and program schedules by tracking, locating and accelerating the delivery of critical parts and materials.

This role requires strong supplier communication, inventory accuracy and the ability to respond quickly when shortages or delivery delays threaten production. The Parts Expediter will work closely with suppliers, logistics providers and internal teams to resolve material issues and keep parts moving.

Position Overview

The Parts Expediter monitors open purchase orders, tracks material availability and coordinates expediting activities based on production priorities.

This position also supports inventory control, receiving, shortage reporting and supplier follow-up while maintaining accurate records within ERP and reporting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor open purchase orders and track delivery status against production schedules
  • Follow up with suppliers to expedite late, short-shipped or missing parts
  • Communicate with vendors and suppliers by phone, email and supplier portals
  • Obtain updated shipping dates and resolve delivery issues
  • Escalate delays that could affect production schedules
  • Maintain accurate parts inventory records within the ERP system
  • Conduct cycle counts and reconcile inventory discrepancies
  • Update stock levels as materials are received, issued or transferred
  • Coordinate with Production, Engineering and Program Management to understand material requirements and priorities
  • Adjust expediting activities as program and production needs change
  • Identify potential supply chain risks, including long-lead-time items, sole-source dependencies and supplier capacity constraints
  • Recommend alternative sources when appropriate
  • Receive and inspect incoming shipments against purchase orders
  • Document and report shortages, damage and non-conforming materials
  • Maintain organized records of supplier communications, delivery commitments and expediting activities
  • Generate and distribute shortage reports, expedite status updates and inventory summaries
  • Use Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools to organize and communicate material status
  • Support Purchasing and Supply Chain teams with research, data entry and administrative tasks as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least two years of experience in parts expediting, purchasing, inventory control or a related supply chain role within a manufacturing or production environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including lookups, pivot tables, filtering and data organization
  • Experience working with ERP or MRP systems
  • General proficiency with email and standard office software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally with suppliers, vendors and internal teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under time pressure while maintaining accuracy
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to respond quickly to supply issues and identify workable solutions
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in supply chain, logistics, business or a related field
  • Experience working in a defense, aerospace or ITAR-regulated manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with Infor LN, SAP or similar ERP platforms
  • Experience with inventory management systems
  • Experience with barcode scanning or warehouse management tools
  • Knowledge of common freight and shipping methods, including LTL, parcel and air freight expediting

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Ability to work in both an office setting and a production floor or warehouse environment
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods during receiving and inventory activities
  • Ability to work around manufacturing noise, temperature variations and standard shop conditions

Export Control Requirements

This position requires access to information controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
