Avionics Technician (MS Project)

STS Technical Services is hiring an Avionics Technician in Columbus, Mississippi, to support helicopter avionics installation, modification, testing, troubleshooting and repair operations.

This role is focused on hands-on electrical and avionics work involving wiring, harnesses, panels, connectors, instruments and related aircraft systems. The Avionics Technician will work from approved technical data and collaborate with maintenance, engineering, quality and other teams throughout aircraft modification and testing activities.

Position Overview

The Avionics Technician performs avionics and electrical installations, removals and modifications on assigned helicopters.

This position supports aircraft buildup and modification activities using approved maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings and manufacturer specifications. Responsibilities also include system testing, troubleshooting, repair and documentation of completed work and identified discrepancies.

Installation & Modification

• Perform avionics and electrical installations on assigned helicopters
• Remove and modify avionics and electrical systems as required
• Install and modify wiring, harnesses, panels, connectors and related components
• Support the buildup and modification of Airbus helicopters
• Follow approved technical data and manufacturer specifications
• Read and interpret maintenance manuals
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Work from engineering drawings and other approved technical publications
• Fabricate and assemble wiring and electrical components
• Route, terminate and secure wiring as required
• Coordinate with maintenance, sheet metal, engineering, quality and other personnel
• Support the safe and efficient completion of assigned work

Testing & Functional Checks

• Perform continuity checks following installation or modification work
• Complete operational checks and functional testing
• Perform system verification to confirm proper operation and configuration
• Troubleshoot discrepancies identified during testing
• Use appropriate test equipment, meters, gauges and instruments
• Maintain required tooling and test equipment
• Accurately document completed work
• Record test results and identified discrepancies in accordance with company procedures

Troubleshooting & Repair

• Troubleshoot avionics systems and components
• Inspect electrical and instrument systems
• Perform avionics and electrical repairs
• Complete corrective maintenance as required
• Identify serviceable and unserviceable components
• Route components for appropriate inspection, repair or replacement
• Assist with resolving installation discrepancies
• Support troubleshooting of system issues identified during modification and testing activities
