Technical Training Instructor

STS Technical Services is hiring a Technical Training Instructor in South Bend, Indiana, to support technical training and field service operations for specialized military ground vehicle systems.

This is a full-time, hybrid opportunity for an experienced automotive technical professional with strong instructional skills, military tactical wheeled vehicle experience and the ability to travel extensively throughout CONUS and OCONUS locations.

Position Overview

The Technical Training Instructor serves as a subject matter expert for vehicle systems, special tools, maintenance procedures and technical processes.

This position is responsible for delivering and evaluating tactical wheeled vehicle training, supporting training program development and providing technical assistance to customers. The role also supports Field Service operations as required.

Travel of up to 65 percent may be required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert for vehicle systems, special tools, maintenance procedures and technical processes
• Support customer technical and training service inquiries
• Assist with the development of tactical wheeled vehicle technical training programs
• Update existing technical training programs using Microsoft Office applications
• Deliver new and existing training course curriculum
• Train and evaluate students
• Conduct tactical wheeled vehicle technical training programs of varying duration
• Deliver training at CONUS and OCONUS locations
• Provide technical guidance related to vehicle maintenance procedures and tooling
• Prepare detailed reports documenting off-site training program progress
• Perform Field Service duties as required
• Support department operations as needed
• Communicate available Training and Field Service capabilities to customers
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer support

Required Qualifications

• Automotive vocational degree or at least five years of automotive technical experience
• Current certification on military tactical wheeled vehicle platforms
• Ability to qualify for or currently possess a U.S. Government Secret Clearance
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint
• Experience using Adobe Illustrator
• Experience using Adobe Photoshop
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong customer service skills
• Strong problem-solving ability
• High level of initiative
• Current valid driver’s license
• Good driving record
• Valid passport
• Willingness to travel within CONUS and OCONUS locations for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior Military Occupational Specialty experience in a maintenance field
• Instructor certification
• Training development experience
• Knowledge of Systems Approach to Training
• Knowledge of TRADOC Regulation 350-70
• Automotive Service Excellence certifications in Automotive, Heavy Truck or Military Vehicles
• Army Instructor Badges or equivalent U.S. military branch or civilian instructor-level training
• Instructor training certifications including ABIC, CFD-IC, SGITC, FDP-1 SAT and SATW

Work Environment

This position works between office and manufacturing plant environments and may be assigned specific shifts or working hours.

Work may be performed in varying conditions including extreme cold, heat, inclement weather, elevated work areas and environments with constant or intermittent loud noise.

The Technical Training Instructor must be able to follow instructions, work methodically, maintain concentration and collaborate effectively with others while supporting technical and training activities.

Travel Requirements

• Up to 65 percent travel may be required
• Travel may include CONUS and OCONUS assignments
• Extended travel periods may be required
• Valid passport required
