STS Technical Services is hiring a Payroll Administrator in Danbury, Connecticut.

This role supports payroll operations across three facilities and approximately 1,500 employees, including salaried, hourly and union workforces. The Payroll Administrator will process payroll, reconcile payroll data, maintain records and help ensure accurate and timely reporting.

The ideal candidate has hands-on payroll experience, strong mathematical and organizational skills, and direct experience working with ADP in a manufacturing and union environment.

Position Overview

The Payroll Administrator will process biweekly salaried and hourly payrolls along with weekly payroll for hourly union employees.

This position is responsible for consolidating time records, preparing ADP submissions, reconciling payroll transactions, maintaining employee payroll information and supporting reporting, audits and year-end activities.

Responsibilities

  • Process biweekly payroll for salaried employees
  • Process biweekly payroll for hourly employees
  • Process weekly payroll for hourly union employees
  • Consolidate timesheets and prepare payroll submissions to ADP
  • Set up employee direct deposit information
  • Maintain employee tax withholding information
  • Stay current on taxation related to salaries and benefits
  • Monitor other tax-related factors affecting payroll
  • Process and monitor garnishment orders
  • Maintain accurate payroll records
  • Support payroll-related audit requests and requirements
  • Reconcile payroll transactions to the general ledger
  • Respond to employee payroll questions and concerns
  • Verify payroll information before processing
  • Enter payroll exceptions including overtime
  • Process leave of absence information
  • Enter sick time and vacation time
  • Prepare required payroll reports
  • Support quarterly 941 reporting
  • Complete 401(k) match verifications
  • Prepare employment verifications for credit applications
  • Prepare employment verifications for mortgage requests and similar needs
  • Balance year-end W-2 data
  • Verify gross wages and tax information
  • Reconcile moving expense information as required

Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of two years of payroll experience
  • Experience working in a union environment
  • Experience supporting payroll in a manufacturing environment
  • ADP experience required
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of payroll business procedures and principles
  • Working knowledge of computerized payroll systems
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree
