STS Technical Services is hiring an Accessory Technician in Nashville, Tennessee, to support the testing, troubleshooting, repair and overhaul of aircraft components and accessories.
This position performs advanced electrical, hydraulic, avionic and electromechanical maintenance in accordance with FAA, FCC, OEM and company requirements. The Accessory Technician will work with navigation, radar, communication, instrumentation, hydraulic and landing gear systems while maintaining high standards for safety, quality and efficiency.
Position Overview
The Accessory Technician performs component maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, repair and overhaul work using approved procedures, technical documentation and test equipment.
The role includes hands-on work with avionics components and LRUs, electrical systems, wiring, circuit boards, wheels, brakes, landing gear and related aircraft accessories.
Responsibilities
- Repair and overhaul aircraft components and accessories in accordance with FAA and OEM procedures
- Ensure completed work meets prescribed standards and tolerances
- Perform diagnostic, repair and overhaul tasks using approved procedures
- Assist technicians and specialists with technically complex repairs
- Follow applicable manual references and use the proper tools for each repair
- Perform work involving wheels, landing gear and brake repairs
- Follow established production schedules
- Work with the Shop Lead and Production Maintenance Supervisor to address schedule delays
- Follow work orders and repair orders
- Ensure required documentation is completed accurately
- Assist with maintenance records and technical data required by the FAA
- Monitor and track parts shortages
- Support material ordering to address parts shortages
- Provide repair information to the Lead or Production Maintenance Supervisor for quotations
- Create purchase requisitions for required parts and tooling
- Communicate tooling requirements to the Lead or Production Maintenance Supervisor
- Communicate by email, telephone and in person as required
- Work with the Lead to coordinate third-party vendor tasks and services
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- At least two years of aircraft avionics maintenance experience
- FAA A&P certification preferred
- Experience troubleshooting avionics components and LRUs
- Experience bench testing avionics components
- Experience with communication, navigation and transponder systems preferred
- Experience using avionics test benches or automated test equipment
- Experience performing functional testing after repair or overhaul
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to troubleshoot avionics systems
- Ability to diagnose faults using test equipment and established troubleshooting procedures
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and electronic schematics
- Soldering and circuit board repair skills
- Wire harness inspection and repair experience
- Connector pin replacement experience
- Electrical continuity and insulation testing experience
- Experience using multimeters
- Experience using oscilloscopes
- Experience using avionics test equipment and test sets
- Familiarity with CMM and repair station documentation
- Experience using wire crimping tools and connector tooling
Working Conditions and Requirements
- Ability to work safely and professionally while following applicable OSHA, EPA, state and federal regulations
- Ability to wear a respirator when required in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 without restrictions that would prevent proper use or seal
