STS Aviation Services is hiring experienced Avionics Technicians in Melbourne, Florida, to support heavy aircraft maintenance operations on commercial aircraft.
This role is designed for avionics professionals with hands-on experience troubleshooting, testing, modifying and repairing aircraft instrument, electrical and electronic systems. Candidates should be comfortable working from technical manuals, schematics, blueprints and approved maintenance data while maintaining strict quality and regulatory standards.
Position Overview
The Avionics Technician performs troubleshooting, operational testing, modification and repair of aircraft instrument, electrical and electronic systems.
All work must be completed in accordance with company policies and procedures, applicable government requirements, aircraft manufacturer specifications and approved maintenance manuals.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot aircraft instrument, electrical and electronic systems
- Perform operational testing of aircraft avionics systems and components
- Modify and repair aircraft systems and components as assigned
- Complete work in accordance with approved maintenance procedures
- Follow written and verbal work instructions
- Use blueprints, schematics, technical drawings and maintenance manuals to complete assigned work
- Record completed maintenance accurately and assume responsibility for work performed through required sign-off procedures
- Service, troubleshoot, repair, modify, preserve, maintain and overhaul aircraft systems and components
- Use required tools, gauges and instruments safely and effectively
- Support experimental and developmental work when assigned
- Follow applicable requirements for hazardous material handling and disposal
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support daily maintenance operations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least three years of heavy aircraft maintenance experience on commercial aircraft
- Strong working knowledge of documentation required to support heavy aircraft maintenance
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures
- Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations
- Familiarity with Airworthiness Directives
- Familiarity with Service Bulletins
- Ability to read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals
- Ability to read and interpret technical instructions
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Ability to use required tools, gauges and instruments
- Understanding of hazardous material handling and disposal requirements related to assigned work
- Must have the required tools for the position
- Must meet qualifications necessary to obtain a SIDA badge
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant licenses
- Experience working on Airbus A220 aircraft
- Experience working on Airbus A320 aircraft
- Experience working on Airbus A321 aircraft
- Heavy phase maintenance experience on military aircraft may also be considered
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, crouch, kneel and walk for extended periods
- Ability to climb and work from ladders, work stands and other elevated positions
- Ability to work with one or both hands extended overhead
- Correctable near and far vision
- Ability to hear at a conversational level with the use of a hearing aid if required
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to handle and maintain control of small parts
- Ability to safely operate required hand tools
