Maintenance Technician

STS Technical Services is hiring a Maintenance Technician in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to support industrial machinery, production equipment and facility maintenance operations.

This role is designed for an experienced maintenance professional with strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting skills. The Maintenance Technician will diagnose equipment problems, complete repairs, support preventive maintenance and help keep production machinery operating safely and reliably.

Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines.

This position requires hands-on troubleshooting experience and the ability to work across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems while supporting preventive maintenance and facility repair activities.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot machinery and equipment to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems
• Repair defective machinery and equipment
• Dismantle equipment and install new or repaired parts
• Install and repair electrical apparatus including transformers and wiring
• Repair electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment
• Lay out, assemble, install and maintain piping systems
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
• Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related components
• Assist with preventive maintenance activities
• Help ensure preventive maintenance schedules are completed
• Assist with training production employees on proper maintenance procedures
• Support lockout-tagout training and procedures
• Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal components
• Repair and maintain facility structures
• Initiate purchase requests for required parts and machines
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Five to seven years of hands-on electronic and mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules
• Ability to read operating and maintenance instructions
• Ability to interpret procedure manuals
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees and customers
• Strong practical problem-solving skills
• Ability to interpret written, verbal, diagram-based and schedule-based instructions

Preferred Qualifications

• College-level industrial maintenance education
• Industrial maintenance certifications

Math Skills

• Ability to work with probability and statistical inference concepts
• Understanding of plane and solid geometry
• Understanding of trigonometry
• Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations

Physical Requirements

• Regularly sit and use hands to handle or feel objects and equipment
• Regularly reach with hands and arms
• Use both feet to operate pedals
• Communicate verbally and hear effectively
• Frequently stand and walk
• Frequently stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
• Frequently climb or balance
• Occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds
• Possess the visual ability required for close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and focus adjustment

Work Environment

This position regularly involves exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical shock hazards.
