STS Technical Services is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer in West Point, Mississippi. This role provides key support for manufacturing process improvement, production support, documentation control and productivity initiatives within an electronics manufacturing environment.
Relocation assistance is provided.

Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer will support production while improving current manufacturing methods, documentation and process metrics. This position contributes to the improvement of existing processes and collaborates with product design teams to support design for manufacturability.
Responsibilities
- Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements for new or existing product lines
- Maintain labor standards, cost estimates, capacity planning, throughput time standards, floor layouts and schedules
- Perform electrical, software and mechanical designs
- Examine and review drawings, blueprints, schematics, work orders, vendor catalogs and other technical data to ensure compliance with specifications and requirements
- Develop, implement and maintain methods, operation sequence and processes for the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies of electronic equipment
- Perform new process development
- Monitor and maintain processes in all areas of manufacturing, including assembly, soldering, coating, prep and related equipment
- Support manufacturing processes with consideration of ISO-9001-2000, J-STD-001, IPC-A-610 Class 3 and other Surface Mount Technology quality standards related to DoD contracts
- Support schematic capture, PCB layout, simulation capabilities and related manufacturing engineering activities
- Generate, implement and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, lot travelers, flow diagrams, procedures and manufacturing proposal documentation
- Initiate requests for engineering changes to ensure compliance with established standards
- Manage product life cycle from development stage to obsolescence
- Write and address change requests, including Engineering Change Requests, Engineering Change Notices, Engineering Change Proposals, Requests for Deviations and Requests for Waivers
- Support dispositioning activity
- Select, propose and sometimes design equipment and tooling for manufacturing
- Support setup, process development, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and tooling
- Evaluate, troubleshoot, recommend and implement solutions related to manufacturing processes, operational systems, procedures and documentation
- Interface with design engineering to coordinate the release of new products and processes
- Prepare and perform test plans, test procedures, test reports, reliability studies, life studies and failure analysis reports
- Maintain records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations
- Serve as one of the main interfaces for customers and vendors for problem solving, bid proposals and related issues

- Ability to read PCB routing and 3D modeling documentation
- Experience with electronics CAD software including Altium, Cadence, KiCad, Eagle and Autodesk Fusion
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline required
- Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Minimum of 4 years of direct electronics industry experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Technical Knowledge
- Electronics manufacturing experience
- Manufacturing process development experience
- Manufacturing documentation experience
- PCB routing knowledge
- 3D modeling knowledge
- Experience with electronics CAD software
- Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, technical data and manufacturing requirements
- Understanding of ISO-9001-2000, J-STD-001, IPC-A-610 Class 3 and related Surface Mount Technology quality standards
- Experience supporting DoD contract-related manufacturing standards preferred
