STS Technical Services is hiring Weld Inspectors in West Point, Mississippi. This role is responsible for inspecting welds in-process to ensure they meet customer specifications, company quality requirements and applicable acceptance criteria.

Job Summary
The Weld Inspector will inspect welds during production, review required welding and inspection documentation, maintain accurate records and support compliance with customer, company and safety requirements. This position also monitors repair activity, tracks defect data and communicates weld quality issues to team members, supervisors and quality leadership.
Responsibilities
- Review Welding Procedure Specifications, Procedure Qualification Records, Welder Qualification Records and Non-Destructive Test final test reports
- Complete in-process inspection records
- Monitor and approve all in-process repairs of non-conforming welds
- Ensure that when NDT is required, the notation of “passes all tests” is included on inspection records
- Confirm all welds meet customer and/or AWS acceptance criteria
- Confirm all parts are present and properly oriented on the weldment according to detailed drawings
- Mark inspection logs with defects found
- Re-inspect any repair or rework required after initial inspection
- Monitor welder qualification testing
- Develop visual inspection procedures
- Provide NDT inspection planning schedules
- Provide training to welders and inspectors in accordance with Navistar General Standard Repair Procedure
- Track all defect data and report findings to the Quality Assurance Manager
- Verify compliance with safety requirements
- Review contract requirements and vendor contract compliance
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Current or previous Certified Welding Inspector certification in accordance with AWS QC1 preferred, but not required
- Canadian Welding Bureau Level II certification preferred, but not required
- Certificate from a combination welding program preferred, but not required
- Associate degree preferred, but not required
- Certified NDT Level II in MT/PT preferred, but not required
- Ability to read and interpret welding symbols as detailed on weld drawings
- Weld inspection experience with military vehicles desired, but not required
- Proficiency with weld inspection tools, including weld gauges, NDT equipment and micrometers
- 2 years of experience reviewing and interpreting structural steel plans, working drawings and technical specifications
- Ability to clearly communicate welding issues and other needs to team members and supervisors
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
- Ability to work in extreme cold and hot temperatures
- Ability to squat, kneel, push and pull
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
