Position Overview:

As a Senior Stress Engineer, you’ll serve as a subject matter expert in structural analysis, working closely with FAA DERs and internal engineering teams to validate the airworthiness of advanced airframe components. This role requires a balance of classical hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and it offers a chance to make real impact in the development and certification of primary aircraft structures.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for stress analysis of composite primary structures (experience with metallic structures is highly desirable)
  • Conduct detailed stress analysis using both classical hand calculation methods (Bruhn, Peery, Roark, ESDU) and FEA tools
  • Prepare and author certification stress reports; collaborate with FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs)
  • Support and interpret structural testing activities
  • Clearly communicate and justify analysis methods, assumptions, and results to both internal teams and external stakeholders

Education, Experience & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering required; master’s degree preferred
  • FAA DER certification (14 CFR Part 23/25) is a significant plus but not required

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Expertise in Finite Element Analysis tools such as NASTRAN and FEMAP
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with 3D solid modeling using CATIA V5—ability to manipulate and extract data from models
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Visual Basic (VB), or MATLAB is a strong plus

The role also coordinates engineering activities for a variety of regulatory and non-regulatory projects while meeting established corporate goals, objectives, and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize Systems Engineering actions for Aircraft Systems Engineers
  • Responsible for guiding and mentoring the activities of the Aircraft Systems Engineers in the Department to provide technical support for 747/767/737/777 Fleets

STS Aviation Services Middle East is hiring B2 Licenced Engineers in Saudi Arabia to join our expanding team. This six-month fixed-term role offers the chance to work in a high-performance aviation environment, supporting world-class aircraft maintenance operations. Extensions may be available for exceptional performers.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Perform and certify avionics maintenance, modifications, and testing activities in accordance with GACA Part 145 and company procedures
  • Coordinate and oversee avionics tasks performed by technicians and supervisors, ensuring compliance with approved data and work instructions
  • Conduct system testing and troubleshooting following installation, modification, or repair work, and certify aircraft as airworthy upon completion
  • Review, sign off, and release work packages in line with company and regulatory requirements
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to avionics technicians to maintain quality, efficiency, and safety standards
  • Ensure all maintenance and testing activities are properly documented, traceable, and compliant with GACA and company standards
  • Adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations during maintenance and testing activities
  • Support system functional checks, fault isolation, and post-modification acceptance testing as needed
  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving complex electrical and avionics issues when required

Skills and Experience

  • Valid GACA Part 66 B2 Licence with current GACA approval
  • Type-rated on at least one of the following aircraft: A320 / A330 / B787 / B777 (multiple type ratings preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in avionics maintenance or modification, including exposure to line and base maintenance environments
  • In-depth knowledge of GACA regulations, certification standards, and airworthiness requirements
  • Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams under demanding operational conditions
  • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work extended hours or shifts as required
  • Proficient in maintenance management systems, technical documentation, and regulatory reporting tools
