Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all avionics wiring projects, including routing, termination, splicing, shielding, and continuity testing for new installations and modifications
  • Install, integrate, and troubleshoot avionics systems including Garmin flight decks, Gogo inflight WiFi, satellite communication systems, and cabin entertainment and connectivity equipment
  • Read, interpret, and create wiring diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings to ensure accurate installation and OEM compliance
  • Perform system configuration, functional checks, and verification testing following avionics installation
  • Conduct advanced troubleshooting on electrical and data bus networks including CAN bus, ARINC 429, Ethernet, and RF cabling
  • Inspect completed wiring work for quality, safety, proper shielding, strain relief, and regulatory compliance
  • Maintain accurate installation documentation, logbooks, and project records

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 6 years of avionics installation experience
  • Strong working knowledge of FARs 43, 91, 135, and 145

  • Proven ability to lead teams while mentoring junior technicians in a calm, professional manner
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail

Position Summary

Key Responsibilities

A rapidly growing aviation operation based at St. Lucie County International Airport (KFPR) is seeking an experienced Avionics Technician to support their expanding Twin Otter restoration program. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned avionics professional to take ownership of all avionics-related work on complete tear-downs, full restorations, and total rebuilds of Twin Otter aircraft.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have prior experience with corporate jet aircraft, commercial aircraft, or military aircraft maintenance, including Depot/Isochronal/Phase inspections.

Job Requirements:

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in avionics or substantiated equivalent experience.
  • Corporate jet or commercial aircraft experience preferred.
  • Military aircraft maintenance experience (Depot/Isochronal/Phase inspections) is a plus.

Certifications & Licenses:

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) or Airframe (A) License preferred.
  • GROL (General Radiotelephone Operator License) or AET (Aircraft Electronics Technician) Certification is preferred.
  • Certification from an Avionics or Aircraft Electronics Technician school or equivalent military training is preferred.

Tools & Equipment:

  • Must possess a complete set of tools for avionics maintenance in a lockable toolbox. Tools must be etched with the contractor’s first and last name for identification purposes.

Communication Skills:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate aircraft maintenance actions verbally and in writing in English.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be comfortable with 12-hour shift work that includes days, nights, and weekends.
