STS Engine Services is hiring an experienced Aircraft Component Mechanic / Certifier to join its growing aircraft engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operation in Stansted, Essex, United Kingdom.
This position offers an opportunity to work within an established Part-145 maintenance organisation, initially focusing on fan cowl hold open rods while supporting the development of additional component maintenance capabilities.
The successful candidate will bring practical aircraft component maintenance experience, strong inspection skills and a thorough understanding of approved maintenance procedures, regulatory compliance and component certification requirements.
Position Overview
The Aircraft Component Mechanic / Certifier will perform maintenance, repair, overhaul and inspection activities on aircraft components within a workshop environment.
Responsibilities include component disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, reassembly and functional testing. The position also involves inspecting components throughout the maintenance process, certifying completed maintenance and issuing certificates of release to service within the individual’s granted certification privileges.
All work must comply with approved maintenance data, the Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE), applicable Part-145 requirements and established safety and quality procedures.
The role requires flexibility, sound technical judgement and a willingness to support colleagues as operational requirements evolve.
Responsibilities
- Perform aircraft component disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, reassembly and functional testing in accordance with approved maintenance data and the current work scope
- Carry out visual and dimensional inspections using appropriate calibrated equipment
- Identify, document and report component defects, discrepancies and non-conformities
- Inspect components throughout the maintenance and repair process
- Verify that all required maintenance activities, inspections, independent checks and records are complete before exercising certification privileges
- Certify completed maintenance and issue certificates of release to service within granted certification privileges
- Complete work cards, inspection documentation and functional test records accurately
- Maintain component identification and traceability throughout the maintenance process
- Interpret and follow Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs), technical instructions and approved maintenance procedures
- Support the controlled development of C7 component maintenance capability
- Participate in quality assurance activities, audits and workshop process improvements
- Use workshop tools and equipment correctly and in accordance with established procedures
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop environment
- Follow company Health and Safety requirements and Human Factors procedures
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and support other workshop activities as operational requirements change
Required Qualifications
- Relevant aerospace apprenticeship or technical training
- Minimum of two years of aeronautical experience in aviation maintenance, including at least 12 months of practical experience in the relevant component maintenance area or workshop
- Practical experience in aircraft component disassembly, inspection, repair, assembly and testing appropriate to the proposed component rating, product range and certifying scope
- Ability to interpret and follow Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs)
- Ability to read and interpret technical instructions and engineering drawings
- Ability to follow approved repair schemes
- Working knowledge of Part-145 requirements relating to aircraft component maintenance
- Familiarity with UK CAA, EASA and FAA regulatory requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Sound technical judgement and excellent attention to detail
- Ability to identify technical problems and implement or recommend appropriate corrective actions
- Ability to work independently within assigned authority
- Ability to work effectively within a busy aircraft component maintenance workshop
- Flexibility to support additional work areas when required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience maintaining fan cowl hold open rods or stays
- Experience working with narrow-body aircraft nacelle components
- Previous company certification approval
- Previous aircraft component MRO experience
