STS Technical Services is hiring a Prototype & Validation Technician – Interior & Carpenter Assembler in Melbourne, Florida. This role supports aircraft interior mockups, prototype builds, and validation activities within a dynamic aviation environment.

If you bring deep experience in aircraft interior assembly, woodworking, and component fabrication, this position places you at the center of prototype development and interior system integration.

Position Summary

The Prototype & Validation Technician – Interior & Carpenter Assembler is responsible for assembling, fabricating, and installing aircraft interior components in mockup and aircraft environments. This includes seats, panels, overhead bins, and structural interior fixtures.

This role requires strong craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with engineers and technicians to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install aircraft interior components including seats, panels, overhead bins, and fixtures
  • Perform parts fabrication and modifications for mockups and development builds
  • Follow technical drawings, diagrams, and assembly instructions
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and equipment to complete assigned tasks
  • Apply woodworking and carpentry techniques in fabrication and finishing processes
  • Work with various materials including wood and composite components
  • Inspect and test assembled components to ensure quality and functionality
  • Ensure all work meets safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to resolve technical issues
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area

Education

  • FAA certification or equivalent may be required
  • Manufacturer-specific training or certification may be required

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in aircraft interior assembly and carpenter fabrication
  • Experience assembling and installing aircraft interior components including seats, panels, and fixtures
  • Familiarity with technical drawings and assembly instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control
  • Experience working within production processes and safety protocols
  • Experience in carpenter shop environments, including cutting machines and precision fabrication
  • Knowledge of aircraft mockups, interior systems, and component integration
  • Proficiency in cutting, painting, and wood part preparation
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Proven ability to work effectively in team environments
  • Physical stamina to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods

STS Technical Services is hiring Aircraft Interiors Technicians in Nashville, Tennessee.

Position Summary:

Examines, repairs, assembles, and tests aircraft accessories, such as engines, power brake units, auxiliary electric motors, spark igniters, valves, pumps, fuselage, wings, and oil and fuel tanks, using hand tools and testing devices, and following shop orders and manufacturer’s specifications.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine inspections or special maintenance to prevent failures of aircraft mechanical systems and components; performs complete operations checks on hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, plumbing, precision assemblies, rigging and controls, etc.
  • Determines when a component should be repaired or replaced; decides upon necessary repair scheme, quantity and type of parts needed to accomplish proper repair; secures necessary parts from Stores or departmental supplies.
  • Repairs, reworks, and modifies worn or defective assemblies, making alterations or changes to units when necessary.
  • Follows approved maintenance procedures for subject component or system, consulting internal procedures that have been FAA approved, original equipment manufacturer’s (OEM’s) technical data, and work package instructions.
  • Consults the Maintenance Lead if technical assistance is needed during the repair process.
  • Inspects completed work before sign off to identify any needed rework; performs rework; ensures that repaired components meet prescribed standards and tolerances.
  • Performs serviceability tests on repaired components/systems using test equipment specified by the original equipment manufacturer.
  • Completes work package documentation by signing/stamping after finishing all designated operations.
  • Submits completed/in-progress work to Maintenance Lead for review; submits to Quality Assurance for final/in-progress inspection and re-certification of airworthiness.
  • Provides supervisor with performance statistics and other operational data, as requested.
  • Properly accounts for time and materials used in all inspection and maintenance activities.
  • Comply with repair station procedures (RSM /QCM) and company policies (SOP) when performing aircraft or component maintenance.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School/ GED
  • A or P License preferred

Experience:

  • Journeyman Technician Role requiring Intermediate Skills to perform most of the standard tasks within the technical area assigned to.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in at least one aircraft type. Proficiency should be demonstrated in at least one aircraft discipline through prior work experience to include:
  • General Maintenance
  • Structures
  • Interiors
  • Avionics Systems

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Assignments require Standard Knowledge of a Technical Area.
  • Rapid learning and application of new information and concepts within the Technical Area begins to take place at this level.
  • Performs moderately complex Technical Assignments.
  • Assists Advanced Level Technicians on more complex technical assignments
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses, repairs and maintenance
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service.
  • Skilled with repairing, troubleshooting, installing and equipment maintenance.
  • Knowledge of FAA requirements for aircraft maintenance procedures
  • Ability to interpret and comprehend manufacturer and FAA approved work package instructions; ability to inspect and install parts/components.

  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including, OSHA, EPA, State and Federal regulations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts if required

Position Overview:

Performs and execute a variety of tasks including adjusting, assembling, equipping, and testing of interior systems in relation to assembly and repair operations. Work will be performed in accordance with the necessary production documentation while meeting the requirements of quality, functionality, safety, deadlines and recording production data. Analyze processes and process improvement opportunities within the production process.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on interior assemblies and subassemblies such as seats, cabinets, panels, partitions, divan, and In-flight entertainment equipment.
  • Works from diagrams and drawings, makes initial layouts, and uses hand and/or power tools, jigs, and saws.
  • Makes continuity checks on work in process and completed while following appropriate clean-as-you go shop practices.
  • May conduct quality inspections on processing line in accordance with quality specifications.
  • May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions
  • Follows approved assembly procedures for component or aircraft structures, consulting internal procedures that have been FAA approved, original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s) technical data, and work package instructions.
  • Positions and aligns subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, using measuring instruments, following blueprint lines and index points.
  • Inspects completed work to identify any needed rework before signing off; ensures that repaired components meet prescribed standards and tolerances.
  • Performs serviceability tests utilizing test equipment specified in technical manuals.
  • Completes work package documentation per FAA and/or repair station manual.
  • Submits completed work to Quality Assurance for final/in progress inspection and certification of airworthiness.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School/ GED
  • A&P and mechanical / electrical experience a plus
  • Structures experience a plus.

Experience:

  • Generally 1-2 years of experience in area of responsibility.
  • Requiring Basic Skills to perform basic tasks within the Technical Area assigned to in area of responsibility with assembly, mechanical, electrical or aircraft structures as well as able to use all tech data and aircraft drawings to locate part numbers and accomplish repairs.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Assignments require Minimal Knowledge beyond the assigned work.
  • Demonstrates correct understanding of routine aspects of work.
  • Performs basic, less complex and routine Technical Assignments.
  • Assists Journeyman Level or Higher Technicians on moderately complex technical assignments.
  • Proficient in riveting, installation of relate hardware, usage of precision instruments and utilization of hand tools to perform these tasks.
  • Must be able to fabricate parts.
  • Reads work orders, blueprints, and specifications or examines sample or damaged part or structure to determine repair or fabrication procedures and sequence of operations.
  • Repair interior components or structure of aircraft according to specifications.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Be proficient in the usage of air powered hand tools and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Ability to work different shifts and flexible hours if required.
