STS Technical Services is hiring Field Service Representatives in Madison Heights, Michigan, to provide hands-on technical support for vehicle platforms and systems deployed at customer locations.

This field-based role serves as a direct technical link between engineering teams and end users. The Field Service Representative supports vehicle maintenance, troubleshooting, operator training, fielding activities and product improvement efforts while traveling extensively to customer sites.

Travel of up to 75 percent is required.

Position Overview

The Field Service Representative serves as the primary on-site technical resource for vehicle platforms and systems operating at customer locations.

This position provides scheduled maintenance, diagnostics, corrective repairs and technical training while documenting field issues and communicating directly with Engineering, Operations and Program Management teams.

The Field Service Representative is also responsible for providing real-time feedback from the field to support engineering changes, technical publication updates and continuous product improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site technical support for vehicle platforms and subsystems at customer locations
  • Perform scheduled maintenance, diagnostics and corrective repairs
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between customers and Engineering, Operations and Program Management teams
  • Conduct root cause analysis on system failures and field issues
  • Document findings and recommend corrective actions through field service reports
  • Deliver operator and maintainer training to customer personnel
  • Support new vehicle fielding activities
  • Support vehicle integration events and acceptance testing
  • Maintain accurate service records, inspection logs and parts usage reports
  • Coordinate warranty repairs with internal teams
  • Support parts procurement and component return or exchange activities
  • Work with Supply Chain and Logistics teams to support field requirements
  • Identify opportunities for engineering changes and product improvements
  • Recommend technical publication updates based on field observations
  • Follow applicable safety standards and customer site requirements
  • Maintain compliance with applicable ITAR and export control requirements
  • Support program reviews, readiness assessments and customer meetings
  • Provide technical input regarding fielded system performance
  • Travel to customer locations throughout the United States and internationally when required

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least five years of hands-on experience in vehicle or heavy equipment maintenance, repair and troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and test equipment
  • Proficiency using standard hand and power tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prepare clear and professional field service reports
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances
  • U.S. citizenship required for ITAR compliance
  • Ability to travel up to 75 percent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as mechanical, electrical, automotive or a related field
  • Prior military experience supporting tactical or armored vehicle platforms
  • Military maintenance experience or equivalent
  • Experience supporting defense or government customers in a field service or contractor role
  • Familiarity with automotive electrical systems
  • Familiarity with CAN bus architectures
  • Experience with hybrid or electric drivetrains
  • ASE certifications or equivalent industry credentials
  • Experience using ERP or service management systems
  • Experience with work order tracking and parts management
  • Familiarity with ITAR or EAR export control requirements in a field environment

FMTV Field Service Representative (50% – 100% Travel)

STS Technical Services is hiring Traveling Field Service Representatives to support maintenance, inspection and repair activities on military wheeled vehicles throughout the Northeast United States.

This position requires extensive travel, strong mechanical experience and the ability to work independently while representing the field service team at customer locations. Candidates must live in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia or Vermont.

Preference will be given to candidates who live within approximately 50 miles of Fort Drum in Watertown, New York.

Position Overview

The Traveling Field Service Representative supports military vehicle maintenance operations at customer locations throughout the Northeast.

This role is responsible for deprocessing military wheeled vehicles, performing inspections, troubleshooting mechanical issues, completing repairs and coordinating parts requirements. Field Service Representatives will also work closely with customers, the Warranty department and internal support teams while maintaining accurate service documentation.

Travel requirements range from 50 to 100 percent. When not traveling, the Field Service Representative will work at the assigned local military installation.

Candidate Location Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Deprocess military wheeled vehicles
  • Inspect military vehicles and identify deficiencies
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues
  • Perform vehicle repairs
  • Order required replacement parts
  • Submit a deficiency report for each inspected vehicle
  • Coordinate daily with the Warranty department
  • Use Microsoft Teams and One Warranty
  • Attend scheduled meetings and provide updates on relevant daily activity
  • Maintain professional appearance and conduct when working with customers and service providers
  • Work directly with customer points of contact at each assigned location
  • Coordinate travel schedules for supported customer sites
  • Work with the STS travel team when arranging driving or air travel
  • Submit weekly status reports
  • Work independently while serving as the primary field representative at customer locations
  • Complete assigned work efficiently and within required timelines

Qualifications

  • At least five years of mechanical experience working on military wheeled vehicles
  • Ability to travel between 50 and 100 percent of the time
  • Active Class A or Class B commercial driver’s license or willingness to obtain one
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose military vehicle mechanical issues
  • Ability to work independently in a field service environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work directly with military and customer personnel
  • Ability to maintain accurate inspection and service documentation
  • Ability to coordinate travel and changing customer requirements
  • Professional appearance and demeanor

Travel Requirements

This position requires frequent regional travel to customer and military locations throughout the Northeast.

Traveling NGDV Field Service Representatives

STS Technical Services is actively seeking Traveling Field Service Representatives to join our team providing troubleshooting, maintenance and vehicle repair. This is an 80% travel position where FSR’s will work at multiple fielding locations throughout the United States. Candidates must to reside in the West Coast Region – California, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, or Arizonia.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Field Service Technician will be responsible for traveling to customers sites (truck end users) to perform in service operations and maintenance training to ensure customers know how to operate our equipment in a proper and safe manner. This role will also be responsible for preforming diagnostics and repairs at customer sites throughout the US for all products produced within their realm of expertise to ensure our products are repaired in a proper and timely manner to reduce any future issues.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide product orientation classes at customer locations for various products.
  • Onsite at customer locations, diagnose and repair all issues related to equipment.
  • Assist dealer service technicians with diagnosing and repairing, either on-site, on the phone, or via email.
  • Follow up on repairs made to customer equipment, to ensure customer is satisfied.
  • Troubleshoot customer concerns and develop best resolution.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent,
  • Five (5) or more years of relevant experience in automotive, heavy trucks, or marine repair.
  • 2 years of experience working on EVs
  • Previous work experience as a mobile mechanic
  • Ability to travel 80%.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong electrical systems background.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • ASE Certifications
