STS Technical Services is hiring a Traveling Field Service Representative to support U.S. Government and military customers in CONUS and OCONUS locations.

This position is designed for an experienced automotive technical professional with extensive knowledge of the JLTV (Joint Light Tactical Vehicle) and HMMWV (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) families. The role supports Total Package Fielding, vehicle maintenance, quality inspections, warranty programs and technical troubleshooting while serving as a subject matter expert for customers in the field.

Position Overview

The Traveling Field Service Representative provides short- and long-term technical support at customer locations throughout the United States and internationally.

This position requires deep knowledge of JLTV and HMMWV systems, maintenance procedures, diagnostic equipment and technical data. The Field Service Representative will troubleshoot complex electrical, hydraulic and mechanical problems while working closely with field operations, manufacturing, engineering and quality teams.

The role may also support engineering testing activities and training programs at various locations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for JLTV and HMMWV automotive systems
  • Provide technical guidance related to vehicle maintenance procedures, tools and technical data
  • Support Total Package Fielding activities
  • Provide short- and long-term field service support in CONUS and OCONUS locations
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and service as required
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical automotive systems
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic systems
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical automotive systems
  • Develop permanent solutions for vehicle maintenance and technical issues
  • Complete detailed field service reports documenting program status, deficiencies and repairs
  • Support vehicle quality inspections
  • Provide warranty program support
  • Serve as a liaison between field operations and manufacturing, engineering and quality teams regarding product concerns
  • Support engineering testing activities at various locations as required
  • Support training programs as required
  • Communicate available field service and training capabilities to customers
  • Maintain strong customer support throughout field assignments

Qualifications

  • Automotive vocational degree or at least five years of relevant automotive technical experience
  • Extensive technical knowledge of JLTV and HMMWV vehicles
  • Subject matter expertise related to the JLTV Family of Vehicles and JLTV trailers
  • Knowledge of JLTV special tools and maintenance procedures
  • Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostic and repair equipment
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve electrical, hydraulic and mechanical vehicle issues
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Experience using Microsoft SharePoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for extended periods
  • Ability to obtain required credit approval for a company card
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASE certifications
  • Military Occupational Specialty experience related to JLTV and HMMWV vehicles
  • MOS 91H experience
  • Familiarity with CAN BUS network theory
  • CAN BUS troubleshooting and repair experience
  • Instructor experience

STS Technical Services is hiring a Traveling Field Service Engineer to install, troubleshoot, maintain and support Thermal Processing and Aqueous Washing Equipment at customer locations.

This is a highly travel-intensive position requiring 85 to 95 percent domestic and international travel. The Field Service Engineer will provide hands-on technical support, perform equipment startups and maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and work directly with customers to help maximize equipment uptime.

Position Overview

Under the direction of the Field Service Manager, the Field Service Engineer provides on-site technical assistance for Thermal Processing and Aqueous Washing Equipment.

This position supports equipment installation, startup, troubleshooting, repair, testing and routine maintenance. The Field Service Engineer will also document service activities, provide customer training and collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing and other technical personnel to resolve equipment issues.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain Thermal Processing and Aqueous Washing Equipment
  • Identify, analyze and repair equipment failures
  • Replace and install components or parts as required
  • Inspect and test completed work to ensure quality and safety requirements are met
  • Prepare detailed service reports documenting visits, equipment issues and troubleshooting activities
  • Log and track maintenance activities
  • Work directly with customers to address technical concerns
  • Conduct feasibility studies and apply technical knowledge to equipment problems
  • Escalate complex technical issues when required
  • Perform equipment startup testing
  • Train customers on equipment features and general maintenance requirements
  • Track newly installed Thermal Processing and Aqueous Washing Equipment
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing and customer personnel to define and resolve problems
  • Work from intermediate mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Support equipment compliance with customer specifications and established quality standards
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices
  • Follow established safety guidelines and procedures
  • Provide daily project reports and updates to the Field Service Manager and other team members
  • Test and debug OEM equipment before shipment
  • Support work on the production floor when required
  • Travel to customer sites to perform field service activities
  • Organize work around scheduled commitments and established budgets
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least two years of related experience with a mechanical and electrical background in Thermal Processing capital equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Ability to read and work from mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Ability to accurately record and document technical information
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Proficiency with general office software
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and/or MRP/ERP systems
  • Ability to follow verbal, written and diagram-based instructions
  • Basic mathematical skills involving whole numbers, fractions and decimals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Manufacturing Quality Control experience

Travel Requirements

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 85 to 95 percent of the time
  • Ability to travel on short notice
  • Availability to work weekends when required
  • Availability to work holidays when required
