A&P Hangar-Based Fixed Wing / Helicopter Aviation Maintenance Technician

Location: Show Low, Arizona
Schedule: Full-Time, On-Site

STS Technical Services is hiring an A&P Hangar-Based Fixed Wing / Helicopter Aviation Maintenance Technician to support an industry-leading air medical transport program in Show Low, Arizona. This position offers long-term stability, excellent benefits, and performance-based bonuses while maintaining aircraft that directly support life-saving missions.

Bonus Information

  • $2,000 Sign-On Bonus

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, inspection, modification, and repair on airframes, rotors, propellers, engines, and appliances
  • Coordinate with the Lead Maintenance Technician to plan and schedule work
  • Communicate with flight crews to ensure aircraft readiness and operational safety
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and parts usage
  • Manage calibrated tools, equipment inspections, and documentation
  • Maintain base facilities and equipment in compliance with company standards
  • Ensure adherence to FAA regulations, maintenance manuals, and safety procedures
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
  • Minimum of 3 years of turbine rotorcraft or fixed-wing maintenance experience
  • Strong understanding of FARs and maintenance documentation procedures
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Inspection Authorization (IA) and/or Part 135 experience preferred
  • Experience with Pilatus PC-12 or Bell-407 aircraft a major advantage

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Stand, walk, kneel, climb, and bend for extended periods
  • Work safely in both indoor and outdoor environments with varying temperatures and noise levels

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate daily maintenance and inspection requirements to ensure airworthiness.

  • Oversee maintenance at assigned field bases, monitor stock levels, and requisition parts as needed.
  • Ensure the safety and security of company assets at all assigned locations.
  • Prepare reports, requisitions, inventories, and certify aircraft logs and inspection forms in compliance with FAA, manufacturer, and company requirements.
  • Complete maintenance records and system entries accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with the Lead Mechanic, AMBS, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient and timely completion of work.
  • Manage parts inventory and recommend stock level changes as necessary.
  • Maintain company-provided special tools and ensure scheduled calibration.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • FAA Mechanic Certificate with both Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
  • Minimum of 2 years of certified aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Strong communication and computer skills.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical exam (including strength and flexibility assessment), drug screening, and background check.
  • For members of the roving maintenance team: sheet metal repair and/or avionics troubleshooting/repair experience required.
  • Must be able to travel frequently, sometimes on short notice, and work night shifts as needed.

Schedule and Location

Position Overview

We’re looking for skilled A&P Mechanics with a minimum of 3 years of experience working on one or more of the following airframes:

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safety-first focus in all maintenance activities, ensuring rotorcraft are in a condition for safe operation
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy to identify and correct defects or problems early during production or installation
  • Ensure consistent product and service quality while maintaining high safety standards to achieve customer satisfaction
  • Read and interpret Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Alert Service Bulletins (ASBs), Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICAs), and other approved/acceptable data as required
  • Apply practical experience with the procedures, practices, materials, tools, machine tools, and equipment used in constructing, maintaining, or altering airframes and powerplants (familiarity with Track and Balance equipment is desired)
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues and management to prevent maintenance delays and AOG situations
  • Complete all required documentation thoroughly, including parts removed/replaced, precision measuring equipment, and calibration data
  • Perform all work to FAA and company standards within established timeframes
  • Work independently when required with minimal supervision

Qualifications

  • Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience maintaining rotary-wing aircraft
  • Hands-on experience with Airbus, Bell, or Agusta airframes
  • Strong understanding of FAA documentation and compliance standards
