Position Overview

The VFR Helicopter Pilot supports air medical transport missions under CAMTS guidelines. Pilots operate day and night missions and are responsible for the safe execution of all assigned flights while maintaining compliance with company procedures and safety management systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform line pilot duties in accordance with the General Operations Manual
  • Safely conduct day and night air medical missions
  • Assist with patient and medical equipment loading and unloading as required

  • Deliver professional and courteous service to internal and external customers

Minimum Qualifications

  • Commercial Helicopter Rating
  • Instrument Helicopter Rating
  • First Class Medical Certificate
  • Meet CAMTS minimum flight time requirements:
  • 2,000 total flight hours
  • 1,500 helicopter hours
  • 1,000 hours PIC helicopter
  • 500 turbine helicopter hours
  • 100 hours unaided night operations or
  • 50 hours unaided night and 100 hours NVG
  • NVG qualified or eligible
  • Body weight not to exceed 235 pounds
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated internal and external customer service skills

Pre Employment Requirements

  • Ability to pass a pre placement physical and functional capacity exam including lifting up to 100 pounds
  • Drug screening and background check
  • Interview and acceptance by PHI management
  • Annual flu vaccine not required

Schedule & Location Requirements

  • Seven days on and seven days off rotation
  • Schedule rotation may be required
  • Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance while on rotation
  • Off duty housing provided

Position Overview

STS Technical Services is recruiting an experienced Air Medical Helicopter Pilot to support operations for a leading air medical transport provider based in Jackson, Mississippi.

In this role, pilots conduct critical care transport missions, providing rapid response and life saving medical transport in urgent situations. Pilots operate in demanding environments where precision, professionalism, and safety are essential.

Operations include 24 hour flight coverage with day and night rotations, flying under VFR and Night Vision Goggle (NVG) conditions.


Key Responsibilities

• Perform line pilot duties in accordance with company operational procedures
• Safely operate a Bell 407 helicopter during air medical transport missions
• Assist with patient and equipment loading when required
• Maintain strict adherence to operational procedures and safety protocols
• Participate in community outreach programs and operational initiatives
• Collaborate with medical teams to ensure safe and efficient patient transport
• Support company safety programs and Safety Management System initiatives


Minimum Qualifications

• Commercial Helicopter Pilot Certificate
• Instrument Rating
• First Class FAA Medical

Flight Experience Requirements

• 2,000 Total Flight Hours
• 1,500 Helicopter Flight Hours
• 1,000 Hours Pilot in Command Helicopters
• 500 Hours Turbine Helicopter Time
• 100 Hours Unaided Night Operations
or
• 50 Hours Unaided Night + 100 Hours Night Vision Goggle (NVG)

Additional Requirements

• Must meet company flight personnel weight restriction policy of 235 lbs or less
• Ability to assist with lifting up to 100 pounds when loading equipment or patients
• Must pass pre employment physical exam, drug screening, and background check
• Strong communication and customer service skills

Candidates must also reside within one hour of the base location.

• Day and night flight operations
• Base schedule may rotate depending on operational needs
