Position Summary

The duties and responsibilities of a parts clerk include receiving materials and parts into the facility, maintaining inventory records, and dispensing the parts and materials to other workers in the company. A parts clerk must transact materials into the company database when receiving parts into the company. Parts clerks also record materials and parts out of the system when they are transferred to a production area.

Job Duties

  • Maintain adequate stock levels of commonly used parts
  • Manage warranty part tracking and documentation
  • Interact with customers, vendors, suppliers, mechanics, and internal staff
  • Order, receive, and mark new parts into inventory using company systems
  • Restock bench stock and organize incoming shipments
  • Issue parts to technicians based on work order needs
  • Source and pick up non-standard parts using shop truck when necessary
  • Maintain and update vendor files for equipment sourcing
  • Code purchased parts and supplies to correct chart of accounts
  • Prepare parts for inter-facility transfers to support maintenance schedules
  • Conduct periodic physical inventory counts
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment following company policies
  • Wear required PPE during all job activities
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • Detail-oriented with strong paperwork and processing accuracy
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with inventory systems
  • Excellent listening and communication abilities, including phone etiquette
  • Effective problem-solving and multitasking skills
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to service quality

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2–5 years of experience in parts handling, preferably in a truck or automotive environment

Physical Requirements

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance Inspections in accordance with TICO policy.
  • Ability to complete minor repairs to hydraulic system components, drive train, cab chassis etc. (i.e. replace belts, hoses, u joints, air lines etc.).
  • Completes required documentation using the fleet maintenance software program, ensuring accurate information is captured on vehicle repairs, parts usage, and repair times.
  • Perform routine oil changes and parts lubrication per specified schedule.
  • Perform minor replacements, repairs, and adjustments as needed.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Company standards.
  • Operate unit to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Detect unusual noises while operating equipment.
  • Submit required job completion paperwork to Shop Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of one year’s experience in automotive/truck, light or heavy equipment maintenance and repair or completion of accredited vocational technical school program.
  • Valid drivers’ license
  • Must have own tools.
  • Drug test required.
