The Inventory Specialist maintains, transfers and coordinates inventory for assigned manufacturing operations. This position manages inventory transactions both physically and within the ERP system while maintaining inventory accuracy, traceability and integrity.

The Inventory Specialist will also monitor material availability, investigate discrepancies and help improve inventory control processes.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, locate and transfer inventory for stock and assembly locations
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Scheduling and Quality to maintain inventory levels
  • Help ensure materials are available to support consistent production
  • Maintain lot and batch traceability for raw materials, work-in-process and finished goods
  • Ensure materials are received, stored and issued according to FIFO, FEFO and company inventory control procedures
  • Support Quality and Production during audits, recalls, investigations and customer traceability requests
  • Prioritize material movement based on changing production requirements
  • Maintain accurate inventory records within the ERP system
  • Process order receipts, material location transfers and inventory reconciliation transactions

Essential Job Duties

  • Set up all repeat jobs that are fully documented while ensuring consistency and adherence to established procedures
  • Run first-piece parts to meet print specifications and validate setup accuracy
  • Program CNC machines and perform edits to optimize performance and part quality
  • Conduct manual inspections of parts using inspection sheets and established criteria
  • Read and interpret blueprints at a medium to high level
  • Apply inspection protocols and complete required documentation
  • Apply knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing to ensure precision and compliance with tolerances
  • Operate multiple machines simultaneously within a production cell to maximize efficiency

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Move parts safely and efficiently to machines, shipping, inspection or storage with proper documentation
  • Maintain accurate paperwork and move tickets
  • Transfer data to required paperwork with accuracy
  • Pull hoppers from machines and empty them into the correct chip containers based on material grade
  • Maintain machines with proper fluid levels
  • Assist Maintenance with preventive maintenance activities
  • Assist with moving, disassembling and assembling machines as needed
  • Ensure fixtures and tooling are stocked and stored in the proper locations
  • Keep oil and coolant areas clean and organized
  • Return unused tooling to the tool crib
  • Remove used inserts from work benches and place them in the recycle bin
