Position Overview

The Materials Buyer II manages an expenditure base of $12 to $15 million per year for materials to support company purchasing programs. This role is responsible for source selection and procurement functions directly associated with company requirements for both direct and indirect production materials. The position also ensures timely planning and scheduling of receipt and inventory control, consistent with company policies and production schedules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Initiate and maintain purchase orders and amendments for materials and services
  • Maintain close coordination with operations planning to ensure timely receipt and inventory management
  • Ensure accuracy of purchase order information and resolve or coordinate technical questions with suppliers
  • Secure and analyze quotations when required, negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, and research potential vendors for cost, quality, delivery, and certifications (ISO, AS9100, NADCAP, etc.)
  • Study market prices, trends, engineering developments, and manufacturing method improvements relevant to assigned responsibilities
  • Advise company activities with concurrence of the Purchasing Manager
  • Interview and confer with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation coordination, and inventory management
  • Negotiate pricing and delivery terms with guidance from the Purchasing Manager
  • Coordinate planning of schedules and inventory control parameters consistent with MRP requirements or requisitioners’ needs
  • Coordinate quality matters and engineering changes between customer requirements and suppliers
  • Resolve nonconforming material conflicts with suppliers, including credit and debit negotiations
  • Perform other duties as needed

Skills and Competencies

  • Fluency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Previous experience with ERP/MRP systems required
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional phone skills to foster and maintain supplier relationships
  • Familiarity with MRP processes
  • Ability to read blueprints and a working understanding of machining
  • Understanding of purchasing functions related to industrial manufacturing and materials used in machined goods

Qualifications

  • College Degree with an emphasis on supply chain operations or purchasing in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to understand engineering processes and specifications
  • 3+ years of purchasing experience in manufacturing required, 5–10 years preferred

Position Overview

Trace-A-Matic is seeking a hands-on CNC Maintenance Technician II to join our skilled maintenance team. In this role, you will actively contribute to maximizing facility uptime by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and supporting continuous improvement across our manufacturing operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day production requirements to keep machinery running and producing parts
  • Execute work orders and perform root cause analysis
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on all manufacturing equipment
  • Perform and/or assist with weekly, monthly, and annual preventative maintenance tasks
  • Communicate equipment malfunctions and corrective actions to the oncoming shift and department supervisor
  • Work in a safe manner to keep yourself and your team incident free
  • Support equipment improvements and upgrades

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to document and create work procedures
  • Use of calipers, depth gages, and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve issues

Mechanical Knowledge

  • Blueprint reading
  • Welding and torching fabrication
  • Gears, transmissions, and belts
  • Leveling and aligning lathes, horizontal machine centers, and boring bars
  • Installing new ballscrews and bearings
  • Advanced Fanuc and Mazatrol knowledge
  • Shaft alignment, lubrication technology and application
  • CNC machining knowledge
  • Overhead crane operation

Electrical Knowledge

  • Ladder diagrams, electrical components such as relays and limit switches
  • Basic wiring, motors, drives, and power supplies
  • Electrical troubleshooting techniques and power distribution

Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems

  • Troubleshooting and component knowledge
  • Blueprint reading for hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Knowledge of valves, pumps, cylinders, and seals

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology preferred
  • Broad knowledge of mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance required
  • 8+ years of experience across a variety of maintenance trades
  • Journeyman card holder preferred

Required Qualifications

Level I:

  • High school diploma required; CNC Technical Diploma preferred
  • Up to 1 year of machining experience
  • Basic computer skills

Level II:

  • High school diploma required; CNC Technical Diploma preferred
  • 2+ years of machining experience
  • Familiarity with CNC tools, software, and machine offsets

Level III & IV:

  • High school diploma required; CNC Technical Diploma preferred
  • 5+ years of machining experience, including programming and advanced setups
  • Ability to independently set up, program, and troubleshoot machines

Skills & Competencies

Work Environment:

This is an office position associated with a manufacturing facility.  Although the employee may spend a portion of his/her time in the office area, the employee’s essential job duties also require the employee to spend a portion of his/her time in the manufacturing area.  The employee must be able to correctly wear and use any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required by the employer when in the manufacturing area.

Physical Demands:

This role requires the constant use of standard office equipment; visual and mental focus; light lifting may be required in order to inspect goods; regular travel is expected.

Position Type:

This is a direct-hire, full-time position, and a regular workweek may require extended days and hours as required to meet business needs.
