A&P Line Maintenance Mechanics

STS Technical Services is hiring A&P Line Maintenance Mechanics in Hebron, Kentucky, supporting operations at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG).

This position plays a critical role in maintaining aircraft safety, reliability, and operational readiness by performing line maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and inspections on transport category aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations and company procedures.

Position Summary

The A&P Line Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing aircraft maintenance activities on the flight line including troubleshooting, repairs, inspections, and component replacements. This role reports directly to the Manager of CVG Line Maintenance and requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform aircraft line maintenance with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality workmanship
  • Troubleshoot aircraft systems and perform repairs using approved maintenance data
  • Remove and replace aircraft components in accordance with approved procedures
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of aircraft systems and aviation maintenance practices
  • Read and interpret Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM), Structural Repair Manuals (SRM), Safety Manuals, and Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPC)
  • Interpret FAA regulations, Airworthiness Directives (ADs), engineering drawings, and aircraft blueprints
  • Follow all FAA regulations, company procedures, and safety standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Properly document all maintenance actions and work performed
  • Support operational reliability and on time aircraft departures

Required Qualifications

  • Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum two years of experience working on transport category aircraft such as Boeing 737, 747, 757, 767, or 777
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and understanding of aircraft maintenance practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one General Familiarization (Gen Fam) course on Boeing aircraft platforms
  • Previous Part 121 or Part 145 line maintenance experience strongly preferred

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and maintenance documentation
  • Ability to write routine maintenance reports and logbook entries
  • Ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written formats

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, reach, and use hands to handle tools and equipment
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Must be able to lift or move 50 pounds or more when required

Work Environment

  • Work is performed primarily outdoors on the airport flight line
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, aircraft noise, and operational airport environments

In this role, you will provide engineering data, instructions, documents, and technical support that economically ensure the safety, airworthiness, and reliability of aircraft within ATA chapter subjects: 24, 26, 30, 36, 49, 70–80. This position reports to the Manager of Powerplant Engineering.

Major Job Accountabilities

  • Lead project development, management, and implementation for repairs, modifications, or alterations
  • Serve as the technical point of contact on assigned subject matter for troubleshooting assistance
  • Issue instructions and documents to economically support operations and return aircraft to service in a safe, airworthy, and timely manner
  • Review OEM Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives (ADs), and Notices of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRMs) for implementation, initiating required engineering documentation based on recommended disposition
  • Provide support on investigations for safety, regulatory, and reliability matters
  • Monitor fleet performance and initiate corrective actions and improvements to maintain fleet health
  • Liaise with manufacturers, maintenance representatives, repair & overhaul (MRO) facilities, outside engineering departments, regulatory personnel, and other agencies
  • Establish component repair and build specifications to enhance dispatch reliability in accordance with budgetary and regulatory requirements
  • Administer the Engine Condition Monitoring Program
  • Review the Powerplant portion of the Aircraft Maintenance and Inspection Program, and initiate maintenance program changes and updates to maintenance documents

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering, or other technical equivalent degree
  • Minimum 5 years of Airline/OEM/MRO experience
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant license preferred
  • Proficiency in technical analysis and working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations and certification requirements
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to multi-task
  • Familiarity with aircraft engine systems and components
  • Knowledge of turbofan and turbine engine operation, dynamics, performance, and build
  • Understanding of failure analysis or root cause engineering, including metallurgical analysis

Position Summary

The Senior Structures Engineer is responsible for providing engineering instructions, guidance, and technical support that balance both safety and operational efficiency. This role involves developing solutions to meet Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), addressing Airworthiness Directives (ADs), evaluating corrosion and fatigue damage, and coordinating with manufacturers, MROs, and regulatory authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and technical oversight to Structures Engineering staff.
  • Issue engineering instructions and documentation to support safe, timely aircraft return-to-service.
  • Develop compliance plans and solutions for FARs, ADs, NPRMs, and in-service issues.
  • Liaise with manufacturers, MRO facilities, regulatory authorities, and outside engineering groups.
  • Review the work of consultants, contractors, and MRO Structures Engineers.
  • Evaluate and respond to FAA directives, NPRMs, SBs, SLs, and other in-service notifications.
  • Develop approved or acceptable data and Alternate Methods of Compliance (AMOCs).
  • Support the Corrosion Protection Control Program (CPCP) with corrective action plans.
  • Submit mandatory FAA reports as required.
  • Develop product improvement modifications and support reliability-driven initiatives.
  • Organize and deliver engineering documentation for repairs, alterations, and modifications within set timelines and budgets.
  • Provide 24/7 technical support in cooperation with other Engineering staff.
  • Support the Repair Assessment Program (RAP) and Widespread Fatigue Damage (WFD) initiatives.
  • Initiate and manage maintenance program changes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technical Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Aircraft Structural Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of ATA chapter subjects: 25, 27 (structural aspects), 51–57, 71 (structural aspects), and 78 (structural aspects).
