FMTV Field Service Representative (50% – 100% Travel)

STS Technical Services is hiring Traveling Field Service Representatives near Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Tacoma, Washington to support military wheeled vehicle maintenance operations. This role is ideal for experienced technicians who are comfortable working independently while representing STS directly to military customers and service providers.

This position requires 50% to 100% travel. When not traveling, Field Service Representatives will report to the assigned local military installation.

Candidates must live within 50 miles of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Tacoma, Washington.

Position Overview

The Traveling Field Service Representative is responsible for deprocessing military wheeled vehicles, troubleshooting mechanical systems, performing repairs, coordinating parts ordering, and documenting deficiencies. This is a stand-alone position requiring professionalism, accountability, and strong communication skills.

You will serve as the primary point of contact for customers at each supported site and represent the full STS team in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deprocess military wheeled vehicles
  • Perform troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of vehicle systems
  • Order required parts to support maintenance operations
  • Submit a deficiency report for each inspected vehicle
  • Coordinate daily with the Warranty department
  • Utilize Microsoft Teams and One Warranty systems
  • Attend scheduled meetings and report on daily operational events
  • Maintain a professional appearance and customer-focused demeanor at all times
  • Communicate directly with customer points of contact at each location
  • Coordinate travel schedules with the STS travel team
  • Submit weekly status reports
  • Represent STS independently while working at supported installations

Position Requirements

  • Active Class A or Class B CDL
  • Ability to travel up to 100% as operationally required
  • Must reside within 50 miles of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Tacoma, Washington

Traveling NGDV Field Service Representatives

STS Technical Services is seeking Traveling Field Service Representatives to support troubleshooting, maintenance, and vehicle repair operations across the United States. This is an 80% travel role where technicians will support multiple field locations and work directly with end users.

The Field Service Technician is responsible for delivering in-service training, performing diagnostics, and completing repairs at customer sites. This role requires strong technical ability, independence, and the professionalism to represent the company in the field.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide product orientation and operational training at customer locations
  • Diagnose and repair equipment issues onsite
  • Assist dealer service technicians with troubleshooting and repairs via onsite support, phone, or email
  • Follow up on completed repairs to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Troubleshoot customer concerns and determine effective resolutions

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive, heavy truck, or marine repair
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working on electric vehicles
  • Previous experience as a mobile mechanic required
  • Ability to travel up to 80%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong electrical systems background
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • ASE certifications

These 1099 contractor roles provide on-call engineering support for aircraft powerplant maintenance operations, with coverage needed for afternoon shifts, midnight shifts, Monday through Friday and 24-hour weekend support.

This role is designed for experienced aviation engineers with strong powerplant knowledge, commercial airline support experience and the ability to provide timely technical guidance for line maintenance, heavy maintenance, MRO support and Aircraft-On-Ground events.

Position Summary

The Aircraft Power Plant Engineer supports continued airworthiness by helping ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements. This position provides daily engineering support to customers and plays a key role in resolving aircraft powerplant maintenance, repair and operational issues.

The ideal candidate will have an extensive background providing engineering technical support for aircraft maintenance operations and the ability to serve as a subject matter expert in powerplant engineering support.

Schedule and Work Arrangement

Job Responsibilities

  • Support aircraft line maintenance, heavy maintenance and modification of Airbus powerplants
  • Provide engineering assistance to Line Maintenance and MRO teams to support aircraft operations, repairs and maintenance
  • Coordinate with Original Equipment Manufacturers and Designated Engineering Representatives as required to facilitate approved powerplant repairs
  • Develop detailed work instructions and engineering drawings to accomplish minor and major powerplant repairs
  • Develop engineering orders to accomplish modifications and alterations
  • Provide Aircraft-On-Ground support for powerplant installations
  • Develop engineering procedures, standards and process specifications to comply with manufacturer and vendor Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives and other FAA requirements
  • Determine corrective actions or required investigations when trends indicate a deviation of engine parameters
  • Investigate and submit recommended troubleshooting actions to Maintenance and Quality Control
  • Support additional responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university
  • Previous powerplant engineering experience within the aviation industry, with an emphasis on commercial airline support
  • Knowledge and understanding of Original Equipment Manufacturer and Type Certificate Holder technical manuals
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for up to 10 hours per day
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word, at an intermediate level or higher
  • Able and willing to travel as required
  • High performer with a focus on both quality and quantity
  • Willingness to comply with Non-Disclosure Agreements and confidentiality policies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with LEAP-1A, V2500 and/or PW1000G aircraft engines
  • Experience with Honeywell 131-9 APUs
  • FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant licenses
  • Hands-on engine maintenance experience is a plus
  • Highly developed interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Experience using data management applications
  • Experience using TRAX, AMOS, Microsoft SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive is highly preferred
