Job Responsibilities

  • Perform repetitive and non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies such as modules, boards, panels, drawers, frames, and cables
  • Work from diagrams, drawings, and layouts using hand and/or power tools, jigs, and saws
  • Conduct continuity checks on work in process and completed assemblies
  • Perform quality inspections on processing lines in accordance with quality specifications
  • Disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and subassemblies as needed
  • Follow approved assembly procedures for components or aircraft structures in accordance with FAA-approved documentation, OEM technical data, and work package instructions
  • Align subassemblies using jigs or fixtures and measuring instruments, following blueprint lines and index points
  • Inspect completed work for rework needs and ensure all repairs meet prescribed standards and tolerances
  • Perform serviceability tests utilizing technical manual–specified equipment
  • Complete all FAA and repair station documentation accurately
  • Submit completed work to Quality Assurance for final or in-progress inspection and certification of airworthiness

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • A&P and mechanical/electrical experience a plus
  • Structures experience a plus

Experience:

  • Advanced technician-level role requiring 2-4 years of experience in assembly, mechanical, electrical, or aircraft structures
  • Demonstrated ability to use all technical data and aircraft drawings to locate part numbers and accomplish repairs
  • Considered a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within assigned technical area

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of all possible tasks and responsibilities within assigned technical area

  • Work on site at MLB
  • Provide expedient engineering support for line and check aircraft
  • Develop repair schemes, including drawings or sketches, for structural aircraft discrepancies
  • Prepare supporting analysis and calculations for structural aircraft repairs
  • Use Original Equipment Manufacturer technical data, including engineering drawings, Structural Repair Manuals, Illustrated Parts Catalogs, Aircraft Maintenance Manuals and related documents
  • Communicate with customers during the development of structural repairs and modifications
  • Define customer needs, timelines, deliverables and repair requirements
  • Follow up with customers during implementation of proposed repair schemes
  • Make changes or revisions to repair schemes to support repair work
  • Determine alternate materials and processes while ensuring design requirements, weight optimization, safety and reliability standards are met
  • Provide engineering status updates on work progress as required by the Manager of Engineering

General Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to accomplish structural analysis for substantiating major and minor aircraft repairs
  • Thorough understanding of applicable FARs
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and directly with customers
  • Strong technical judgment
  • Ability to support maintenance teams, operators, OEMs and vendor engineering groups
  • Ability to prepare reports for management and customers
