Position Overview

As an Aircraft Structures Technician, you will perform structural maintenance, repairs, and modifications on transport-category aircraft, with a specific focus on the VC-25B platform. This includes both scheduled and unscheduled work performed to the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform close-tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation on critical support structures (doublers, triplers, seat tracks, stringers, etc.)
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, blueprints, schematics, and OEM specifications
  • Conduct sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving of structural components
  • Work with aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and other non-porous metals
  • Use professional hand tools and specialty tools including 45- and 90-degree drills, rivet guns, countersink cages, pancake adapters, and more
  • Guide and mentor junior technicians and collaborate on complex modification efforts
  • Operate forklifts, cranes, and powered elevating equipment
  • Use computer systems to access documentation, submit part requests, and complete maintenance records
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and wear required PPE
  • Perform quality inspections and make entries in aircraft logs and records as needed
  • Maintain flexibility in shift scheduling, including potential nights, weekends, and holidays

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of heavy aircraft structures experience (transport-category aircraft)
  • Experience with non-porous metals: aluminum, titanium, stainless steel
  • Demonstrated ability with close-tolerance structural repairs and tooling
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering documents, and technical manuals
  • Familiarity with shop math and general aviation maintenance practices
  • Proficient in basic computer applications and aircraft-related software systems
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and under physically demanding conditions
  • Must be a U.S. citizen able to obtain customer approval for aircraft access
  • Dual citizenship or prior foreign citizenship may preclude access

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on VIP or specialty aircraft interiors within the past 10 years
  • Prior experience supporting military aircraft, special mission platforms, or government contracts
  • Knowledge of structural systems on wide-body aircraft or presidential support aircraft

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Ascend/descend ladders and stands, lift up to 35 lbs (occasionally more with assistance)
  • Work in noisy environments and elevated platforms
  • Frequent reaching, standing, crawling, kneeling, and exposure to hazardous materials
  • Pass visual acuity and color tests
  • Use of personal protective gear for face, eyes, ears, hands, and arms

Position Summary

This technical position requires a minimum of 2 calendar years of aircraft maintenance experience. Reports to the Facility Supervisor and or Facility Manager. A Technician Class B is responsible for performing fuel tank maintenance. This includes preventive maintenance and alteration tasks as directed and assigned in accordance with the applicable maintenance data. The qualifications for this position are basic knowledge experience and or training required to perform the assigned task. This position will not be assigned management supervisory or inspection duties and does not have authorization to sign a maintenance release for approving maintained or altered article for return to service. Therefore this position is not required to be certified under 14 CFR part 65 or be listed on the Management Supervisor or Inspector roster.

Duties

  • Carry out the assigned tasks in accordance with the applicable maintenance manual. Maintenance performed which have been completed or partially completed have been signed off.
  • Ensure maintenance operations are performed in the appropriate sequence that inspections are requested in an orderly and timely manner and that maintenance activities are performed according to the appropriate maintenance data and customer requirements.
  • Ensure test equipment or tools used to make airworthiness determinations are labeled and current.
  • Request stock as required for the work being performed.
  • Properly record the work performed on the appropriate maintenance record and complete the additional paperwork as required.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Remain cognizant of applicable FAR part 145 and 43.
  • Familiar with the content of the company Repair Station Manual Quality Control Manual and subsequent revisions.
  • Responsible for recording time of tasks assigned.
  • Immediately communicating to supervision any procedures practices or habits if not corrected might lead to injury inefficiency or un airworthy conditions.

The work demands flexible schedule and the ability to fit into small areas and work in confined spaces.

Required Experience

Position Responsibilities

  • Performs or assists on and off aircraft electrical modification to electrical wiring and system components
  • Performs or assists with basic connector terminations including shielded wires, coaxial cables and fiber optic wiring

  • Performs sealing, wrapping, bonding, tying and closure of wire harnesses and cables in accordance with standard processes
  • Demonstrates basic familiarization to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications and retrofit requirements to perform electrical modification and repair
  • Adhere to government and company procedural guidance, perform assembly, installation, visual inspection of physical characteristics, modification of wire bundles and electrical assemblies, operational and quality checks of aircraft work
  • Assists with troubleshooting malfunctions in aircraft electrical and environmental systems of moderate difficulty at the organizational or depot maintenance level
  • Assists with aircraft bench and or flight line operational testing and troubleshooting in accordance with DOD, manufacturer, company, supplier and other directives
  • Assists with assembly, installation, check out physical characteristics, operational testing and modification of wire bundles in the testing development and modification of aircraft in accordance with DOD, manufacturer, company, supplier and other directives
  • Responsible for the proper performance of assignments and the prudent handling of product, tools and equipment
  • Interpret standard work instructions, charts, tables, blueprints, wire diagrams, formulas, sketches, verbal and electronic orders, job layouts etc. to accomplish assigned work
  • Ensure that all equipment is used in accordance with established safety and operating procedures
  • Familiar with precision measuring instruments, gauges, tools etc. necessary to check dimensions and conformance to quality requirements
  • Maintain necessary certifications, licenses and permits as required for assigned work
  • Able to ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds
  • Able to work various shifts and or an alternate baseline schedule that may frequently change to support mission requirements and may include weekends and holidays. Mission requirements and or workload may require both scheduled and unscheduled overtime
  • Must be familiar with Hazardous Energy and Lock Out Tag systems applications to ensure working environment is deemed safe for access and on the job performance
  • Will be required to assist other team members General Mechanics Structures Avionics in order to ensure cost and schedule targets are met
  • This position is expected to be 100 percent onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at San Antonio. Candidate may be required to travel up to 25 percent
  • This position requires the ability to pass assessment during the training cycle
  • This position requires adherence to the SA Tool and FOD procedures
