Position Summary

Key Responsibilities

Job Description:

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine inspections or special maintenance to prevent failures of aircraft mechanical systems and components; performs complete operations checks on hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, plumbing, precision assemblies, rigging and controls, etc.
  • Determines when a component should be repaired or replaced; decides upon necessary repair scheme, quantity and type of parts needed to accomplish proper repair; secures necessary parts from Stores or departmental supplies.
  • Repairs, reworks, and modifies worn or defective assemblies, making alterations or changes to units when necessary.
  • Follows approved maintenance procedures for subject component or system, consulting internal procedures that have been FAA approved, original equipment manufacturer’s (OEM’s) technical data, and work package instructions.
  • Consults the Maintenance Lead if technical assistance is needed during the repair process.
  • Inspects completed work before sign off to identify any needed rework; performs rework; ensures that repaired components meet prescribed standards and tolerances.
  • Performs serviceability tests on repaired components/systems using test equipment specified by the original equipment manufacturer.
  • Completes work package documentation by signing/stamping after finishing all designated operations.
  • Submits completed/in-progress work to Maintenance Lead for review; submits to Quality Assurance for final/in-progress inspection and re-certification of airworthiness.
  • Provides supervisor with performance statistics and other operational data, as requested.
  • Properly accounts for time and materials used in all inspection and maintenance activities.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School/ GED
  • A&P

Experience:

  • Required: A & P License; minimum 2 to 5 years’ experience with small aircraft/ general aviation trained in one aircraft type; proficient and demonstrated skill with the aircraft.
  • Several years or actual and recent depot level aircraft maintenance and repair experience is required, (repair of mechanical systems, components, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, rigging etc.); proficiency with interpretation of original equipment manufacturer’s technical data or work package instructions; experience using power or pneumatic hand tools.

  • Locates and marks reference points and holes for installation of parts and components, using jigs, templates, and measuring instruments.
  • Provide information and documentation for engineering requests.
  • Comply with repair station procedures (RSM /QCM) and company policies (SOP) when performing aircraft or component maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • High School/ GED
  • A&P license preferred

Experience:

  • Prefer at least 5 years experience.
  • Experience doing aircraft structures as well as able to use all tech data and aircraft drawings to locate part numbers and accomplish repairs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • This position reports directly to the Line Maintenance Station Manager and Station Leads. Candidate will work in close partnership with the field airlines, flight crew and other Aircraft Maintenance Controllers.
  • The candidate will ensure aircraft are maintained to airworthiness standards prescribed by applicable regulations, airworthiness directives, company policies and best practices.
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, adjust and repair different transport category aircraft airframes and engines using hand tools and test equipment.
  • Maintain the highest level of quality and integrity.

  • Maintain and oversee maintenance records for all aircraft on property
  • Review work packages for accuracy and completeness of paperwork
  • After completion of work by the crew, in cooperation with the Chief Inspector, inspect the work to ensure it is completed and of the best quality possible
  • Familiarize yourself with all current FAA specifications, airworthiness directives, manufacturer’s instructions, bulletins, technical data, and other approved data applicable to the unit being inspected
  • Assure that all parts rejected or found unserviceable are properly marked and tagged
  • Properly execute the malfunction and defect report FAA Form 8010-4 as necessary

Requirements of an A&P Certified Aircraft Inspector

  • Hold a Mechanic’s Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings, meeting the requirements of 14 CFR Part 65.83
  • Verifiable aircraft maintenance employment within the last 2 years
  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial or regional aircraft experience
  • Familiarity with parameters and standards established in Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Parts 53, 65, 91, 121, 135, and 14

A&P Aircraft Mechanic

STS Technical Services is hiring A&P Aircraft Mechanics in Peru, Indiana. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your skills and training while supporting aircraft maintenance operations in a professional and safety-focused environment.

Responsibilities of an Aircraft Mechanic

  • Ensure all tasks assigned are completed in accordance with manufacturer’s manuals and FAA accepted or approved data
  • Adhere to all applicable FARs and company policies and procedures outlined in the General Procedures Manual (GPM) and the FAA Approved Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program
  • Interpret aircraft technical manuals and electrical drawings
  • Responsible for movement of aircraft in hangar and on ramp, including operation of tow tractor
  • Maintain work area in a neat, clean, and safe condition at all times
  • Perform only those tasks for which proper training and qualification has been obtained
  • Document on-the-job training (OJT) on form (T#004) for training received on tasks not previously performed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
