STS Technical Services is hiring experienced Aircraft Structures Technicians to join a respected aviation team in Moline, Illinois. This is a hands-on position focused on inspecting, servicing, repairing, and modifying aircraft airframes, structural systems, and composite components.

Position Summary:

As an Aircraft Structures Technician, you’ll play a critical role in maintaining the structural integrity of aircraft. You will support repair and modification projects, read and interpret aircraft blueprints, and ensure all work complies with FAA regulations and company quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural repairs and modifications on aircraft and components
  • Interpret technical drawings and blueprints for structural work
  • Take full ownership of assigned structural projects and deliver quality results
  • Ensure compliance with the Quality Control Manual and FAA regulations
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all work performed
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and in compliance with safety regulations
  • Safeguard customer aircraft, components, and parts at all times
  • Comply with all Federal, OSHA, state, and local safety and environmental regulations
  • Perform additional duties as required

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Airframe & Powerplant Certificate preferred (Airframe-only also accepted)
  • 3–5 years of aircraft maintenance experience with a focus on structural repair and modification
  • King Air and/or Citation aircraft experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with flight control surface repairs
  • Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance (AOA badge)
  • Strong working knowledge of FARs 43, 65, 91, 135, and 145

STS Technical Services is hiring an experienced Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic to support a rapidly expanding Twin Otter restoration program based at St. Lucie County International Airport in Ft. Pierce, Florida. This is a hands-on opportunity involving full aircraft tear downs, complete restorations, and total rebuilds.

This operation is built around a small, tight-knit team that values professionalism, collaboration, and long-term growth. This is not a contractor-minded environment. The team is seeking a dedicated aviation professional who wants to become part of the organization and grow alongside the program.

All positions begin as open-ended contract roles, with a clear path to direct hire based on performance and program needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complete aircraft tear downs, restorations, and rebuilds on Twin Otter aircraft
  • Fabricate, repair, and install sheet metal components in accordance with approved data
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and structural repair manuals
  • Perform precision drilling, riveting, forming, and fitting of aircraft structures
  • Ensure all work complies with FAA regulations and company quality standards
  • Maintain accurate documentation of completed work
  • Collaborate closely with team members in a fast-paced, hands-on environment

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of aircraft sheet metal experience
  • Strong fabrication experience is required
  • Prior MRO experience is preferred
  • Experience working on complete aircraft restorations or heavy maintenance strongly desired
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

STS Technical Services is hiring Aircraft Structures Technicians in Macon, Georgia.

Position Summary:

Performs structural repairs and fabrication of parts.  Ability to perform repairs per aircraft SRM and/or engineering dispositions.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Follows approved repair/modification procedures for component or aircraft, consulting internal procedures that have been FAA approved, original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s) technical data, and work package instructions.
  • Positions and aligns subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, using measuring instruments, following blueprint lines and index points
  • Inspects completed work to identify any needed rework before signing off; ensures that repaired components meet prescribed standards and tolerances.
  • Performs serviceability tests on repairs using test equipment specified in technical manuals.
  • Completes work package documentation by signing/stamping off after finishing all designated operations.
  • Submits completed work to Quality Assurance for final/in progress inspection and recertification of airworthiness.
  • Bolts, screws, or rivets accessories to fasten, support, or hang components and subassemblies.
  • Cuts, trims, and files parts, and verifies fitting tolerances to prepare for installation.
  • Drills holes in structure and subassemblies, and attaches brackets, hinges, or clips to secure installation or to fasten subassemblies.
  • Inspects and tests installed units, parts, and equipment for fit, performance, and compliance with standards, using measuring instruments and test equipment.
  • Positions and aligns subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, using measuring instruments, following blueprint lines and index points.
  • Able to identify bolts, screws, rivets and various fasteners used to support or assemble components.
  • Installs units, parts, equipment, and components in structural assembly, according to blueprints and specifications, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Locates and marks reference points and holes for installation of parts and components, using jigs, templates, and measuring instruments.
  • Provide information and documentation for engineering requests.
  • Comply with repair station procedures (RSM /QCM) and company policies (SOP) when performing aircraft or component maintenance.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School/ GED
  • A&P license preferred

Experience:

  • Prefer at least 5 years experience.
  • Experience doing aircraft structures as well as able to use all tech data and aircraft drawings to locate part numbers and accomplish repairs.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to fabricate parts.
  • Reads work orders, blueprints, and specifications or examines sample or damaged part or structure to determine repair or fabrication procedures and sequence of operations.
  • Repair body or structure of aircraft according to specifications.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Be proficient in the usage of air powered hand tools and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Ability to work different shifts and flexible hours if required.
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including, OSHA, EPA, State and Federal regulations.

Position Overview

As an Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic, you will support major structural repair and modification activity on live aircraft, working to exacting standards in a fast-paced maintenance environment. This role requires precision, ownership of work, and a strong understanding of aircraft structures and manufacturer documentation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of major structural repairs and aircraft modifications
  • Remove major aircraft structural sections while stress jacked
  • Work to fine tolerances and maintain high workmanship standards
  • Uphold high standards of housekeeping within the hangar environment
  • Adhere to all company and manufacturer procedures
  • Implement aircraft modifications using approved drawings and procedures

Skills and Abilities

  • Completed aircraft engineering apprenticeship within production or live aircraft environments
  • Ideally five years of live aircraft and structures experience
  • Demonstrable experience within an aircraft modification or production environment
  • Experience implementing and carrying out aircraft component modifications
  • Proven ability to read and interpret manufacturer drawings and Structural Repair Manuals (SRMs)
  • Excellent hand skills and attention to detail
  • Takes full ownership and responsibility for assigned tasks
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Eligible to work and live in the United Kingdom
