Industrial Painters

STS Technical Services is hiring experienced Manufacturing Painters for 1st and 2nd shifts at our facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. If you take pride in precision work, know your way around a spray gun, and want to be part of a team that values quality and reliability, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare steel and aluminum surfaces for painting through cleaning, masking, sanding, grinding, or blasting operations.
  • Apply industrial coatings using conventional and air-assisted spray equipment.
  • Paint large fuel tanks, generator enclosures, structural steel frames, and other fabricated products according to customer specifications.
  • Mix and apply two-part paint systems while maintaining proper coating thickness and finish quality.
  • Inspect completed work for quality, appearance, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Perform touch-ups and corrective work as needed.
  • Troubleshoot paint application issues and recommend process improvements.
  • Maintain painting equipment, tools, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
  • Work closely with production and quality teams to meet manufacturing schedules and customer expectations.
  • Follow all safety procedures, environmental regulations, and PPE requirements.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of industrial or commercial painting experience is required.
  • Experience applying industrial coatings, epoxies, polyurethanes, or similar heavy-duty paint systems is strongly preferred.
  • Experience painting large fabricated steel products, structural steel, heavy equipment, tanks, trailers, or similar industrial components preferred.
  • Experience operating spray equipment and applying two-part paint systems.
  • Automotive painting experience alone is not sufficient unless combined with industrial or commercial coating experience.
  • Ability to read measurements, work instructions, and customer specifications.
  • Manufacturing or production environment experience required.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to support changing production priorities and occasional overtime as needed.
  • Must pass a competency test, spray test, and pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.

This role supports the technology infrastructure behind manufacturing and office operations, with hands-on responsibility for networking, structured cabling, physical security systems and facility-level technology.

The ideal candidate has practical experience working with network equipment, low-voltage infrastructure and security systems and is comfortable supporting technology across both office and industrial environments.

Position Overview

The Network Infrastructure Technician will install, maintain and troubleshoot network, cabling, security and facility technology systems across multiple buildings and production environments.

This position works closely with IT, Facilities and Operations teams to help maintain reliable connectivity, secure facilities and organized infrastructure while supporting continued system expansion.

Responsibilities

Network & Infrastructure

  • Install, configure and maintain network switches, routers, firewalls and wireless access points
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues
  • Perform network diagnostics and optimization across multiple buildings and production environments
  • Manage VLANs and network port configurations
  • Support link aggregation and other Layer 2 and Layer 3 functions
  • Assist with network documentation and topology mapping
  • Maintain network asset tracking information

Structured Cabling

  • Run Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6a network cabling throughout office and manufacturing spaces
  • Terminate and test network cabling
  • Install and maintain patch panels
  • Install and maintain network racks and cable management systems
  • Perform cable certification and labeling
  • Maintain accurate cabling documentation
  • Help maintain clean and organized network environments

Security & Access Control Systems

  • Install, configure and maintain CCTV systems
  • Support IP cameras
  • Maintain NVRs and monitoring stations
  • Troubleshoot CCTV equipment and connectivity
  • Support access control systems
  • Troubleshoot badge readers and door controllers
  • Support related access control hardware

General IT Support

  • Work with IT team members to support end-user connectivity

Qualifications

  • Two to five years of experience in network infrastructure, structured cabling or low-voltage systems
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP
  • Working knowledge of DHCP and DNS
  • Understanding of VLANs and network switching
  • Hands-on structured cabling experience
  • Experience terminating network cabling
  • Experience performing cable testing
  • Experience working with CCTV systems including IP cameras and NVRs
  • Experience with access control hardware
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and network layouts
  • Comfortable working in industrial and construction environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Ubiquiti, Cisco or similar networking platforms
  • Familiarity with Lenel, HID, Avigilon, Verkada or comparable security systems
  • Knowledge of fire alarm systems and NFPA standards in a support capacity
  • CompTIA Network+ certification
  • CompTIA Security+ certification
  • Equivalent networking or security certifications

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working on ladders and lifts
  • Comfortable working in tight spaces
  • Ability to work in manufacturing environments that may include noise, dust and temperature variation
