Job Duties & Requirements:

  • A&P’s to perform hangar maintenance on mostly Boeing Commercial Aircraft. Kalitta’s own fleet consists of 747s, 767s and 777s.
  • An A&P mechanic inspects, services and repairs airplanes to ensure they’re operating correctly and safely.
  • A mechanic is responsible for ensuring that airplanes get regular maintenance and that any problems are fixed correctly.
  • Mechanics may work on different parts of an aircraft, such as the engine, landing gear, brakes and pumps.
  • A mechanic may work with special instruments designed specifically for aircraft maintenance.
  • The job may also involve standing on ladders and working at various heights.

  • Job duties may vary based on which part of the plane is being worked on.

Position Overview

As an Aircraft Structures Technician, you will perform structural maintenance, repairs, and modifications on transport-category aircraft, with a specific focus on the VC-25B platform. This includes both scheduled and unscheduled work performed to the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform close-tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation on critical support structures (doublers, triplers, seat tracks, stringers, etc.)
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, blueprints, schematics, and OEM specifications
  • Conduct sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving of structural components
  • Work with aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and other non-porous metals
  • Use professional hand tools and specialty tools including 45- and 90-degree drills, rivet guns, countersink cages, pancake adapters, and more
  • Guide and mentor junior technicians and collaborate on complex modification efforts
  • Operate forklifts, cranes, and powered elevating equipment
  • Use computer systems to access documentation, submit part requests, and complete maintenance records
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and wear required PPE
  • Perform quality inspections and make entries in aircraft logs and records as needed
  • Maintain flexibility in shift scheduling, including potential nights, weekends, and holidays

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of heavy aircraft structures experience (transport-category aircraft)
  • Experience with non-porous metals: aluminum, titanium, stainless steel
  • Demonstrated ability with close-tolerance structural repairs and tooling
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering documents, and technical manuals
  • Familiarity with shop math and general aviation maintenance practices
  • Proficient in basic computer applications and aircraft-related software systems
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and under physically demanding conditions
  • Must be a U.S. citizen able to obtain customer approval for aircraft access
  • Dual citizenship or prior foreign citizenship may preclude access

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on VIP or specialty aircraft interiors within the past 10 years
  • Prior experience supporting military aircraft, special mission platforms, or government contracts
  • Knowledge of structural systems on wide-body aircraft or presidential support aircraft

STS Line Maintenance is hiring A&P Mechanics in Boston, Massachusetts. This is a hands-on line maintenance role supporting Airbus aircraft operations in a fast-paced airport environment. Position Overview

Position Summary:

To manage, direct and control FedEx heavy maintenance, modification and conversion programs at maintenance provider facilities to ensure that all activities are performed in accordance with the FedEx maintenance, modification and conversion specifications, schedule, configuration requirements and quality standards. Ensures all programs and work performed are in full compliance with the contractual requirements and the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Represents the Company as the project leader for all activities from an aircraft heavy maintenance, modification and conversion viewpoint at assigned maintenance provider facilities.
  • Coordinates company instructions and manages and controls the execution of maintenance, modification and conversion programs and makes final decisions regarding the induction and redelivery of aircraft from heavy maintenance, modifications and/or conversion visits at maintenance provider facilities.
  • Makes timely decisions regarding the repair or replacement of parts or components and the correction of all discrepancies noted during the scheduled maintenance, modification or conversion visits and assures airworthiness of aircraft redelivered to FedEx after work is accomplished at contract maintenance providers and signs airworthiness release as required.
  • Monitors contract maintenance providers for all hours expended, material issued and ground equipment required during the maintenance, modification or conversion visit and reviews all invoices for accuracy and negotiates and approves proposed hours to ensure FedEx is invoiced for fair and reasonable hours for the work performed and to ensure that the visits are performed within the specified budget.
  • Reviews FedEx heavy maintenance, modification and conversion maintenance packages as assigned to the maintenance provider, anticipates problems and recommends and coordinates possible solutions with the maintenance provider, other departments within FedEx and heavy maintenance and conversions management.
  • Ensures the successful flow of pertinent information between the appropriate departments within FedEx, the contract maintenance providers, flight crews and others associated with the heavy maintenance, modification and conversion of FedEx aircraft to ensure a complete understanding of the maintenance, modification and conversion specifications, requirements, policies and procedures and contractual arrangements.
  • Assures all heavy maintenance, modification and conversions performed by contract maintenance providers on FedEx aircraft are completed in a timely manner to minimize aircraft out of service time and that the appropriate FedEx departments are provided an accurate and timely status report of the aircraft in work.
  • Provides on-site review and surveillance of airworthiness directives and ensures all documentation is accounted for and recorded in the aircraft history as required per the FedEx GMM and the maintenance provider contract.
  • Maintains open communications and a good working relationship with the assigned maintenance providers to ensure all issues related to production, quality, safety, legal fitness, and cost control are identified, communicated, and addressed in a timely and effective manner.
  • At aircraft delivery to the maintenance provider facility, coordinates the debrief of the aircraft to the maintenance provider by the FedEx flight crew and coordinates with FedEx test flight personnel after completion of the assigned heavy maintenance, modification or conversion work and provides all pertinent documentation re: the work performed prior to ground and flight tests and ensures that all discrepancies discovered during the FedEx ground and flight acceptance tests are corrected.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent work experience plus five (5) years’ relevant experience in Aircraft Heavy Maintenance project and process planning and management
  • Knowledge of cross functional departmental processes preferred
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to effectively lead multiple projects
  • Strong organizational, time management, interpersonal skills with ability to effectively multi-task
  • Comprehensive computer skills using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Business Objects

Education

Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in avionics, electronics, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems maintenance

Dependent on departmental needs, experience may include:

  • 6 or more years of recent experience modifying, repairing, or overhauling commercial aircraft instrumentation systems, printed circuit boards, and accessories at the component level
  • 6 or more years of recent experience repairing or overhauling commercial aircraft hydraulic or hydro mechanical aero structure components

This position supports pneumatic and environmental control system hardware and works closely with production and quality teams to ensure all components meet FAA requirements, technical data, and performance standards.

This role reports to the Repair Shop Manager or Lead Technician.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform metal fabrication tasks including trimming, cutting, drilling, marking, dent removal, identification, and assembly of metallic parts
  • Work in accordance with work instructions, blueprints, and production planning documents
  • Perform basic composite and insulation processes including hand lay up, curing, trimming, and insulation wrapping
  • Set up and operate fabrication equipment such as curing ovens, cutters, routers, sanders, and related machinery
  • Support welding fabrication processes under supervision
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment following training and safety guidelines
  • Use measuring instruments including tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and scales to verify dimensions
  • Perform polishing, cleaning, and basic finishing operations per company standards
  • Accurately record material usage, traceability information, and shop traveler data
  • Assist with material handling, part movement, tool cleaning, and general shop support activities
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and FOD free work area
  • Follow written and verbal instructions from supervisors, leads, and production documentation
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and standardized work practices
  • Communicate work status and technical issues with team members and supervisors
  • Achieve departmental goals related to quality, productivity, and utilization
  • Perform additional duties consistent with composite and metal fabrication job families

Required Qualifications

  • Prior military or civilian maintenance experience working on aerospace ducting systems is preferred
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, work orders, and production planning documents
  • Basic understanding of aircraft ducting systems and repair techniques
  • Willingness to learn fabrication, fitting, and assembly techniques
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools including calipers, dial gauges, and micrometers
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Team oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in a shop environment with exposure to noise and chemicals
