Position Summary

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintenance, repair and overhaul of customer aircraft to include all forms of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.

  • Inspect and test installed units, parts, and equipment for compliance with performance and safety standards

  • Report quality system performance, compliance concerns and improvement opportunities to leadership
  • Review customer orders and technical documentation for applicable quality requirements
  • Prepare and review job-specific quality plans
  • Chair the Material Review Board for repair operations
  • Maintain and control technical data associated with aviation components being repaired or overhauled
  • Monitor technical documentation for incoming Required Inspection Items
  • Oversee the proper completion and execution of maintenance releases for components returned to service
  • Ensure limited shelf-life materials are properly identified, segregated, controlled and disposed of
  • Ensure scrapped aviation parts are properly identified, documented, segregated and disposed of according to established procedures

  • Support the continued operation and effectiveness of the Quality Control System
  • Perform delegated Repair Station Manager responsibilities when required

Required Qualifications

  • Direct aviation quality assurance or quality control experience
  • FAA Part 145 repair station experience
  • Professional aviation-industry experience
  • Experience as a senior aviation inspector, quality lead, assistant quality manager, supervisor or quality manager
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations governing aviation component maintenance, repair, overhaul, inspection and return-to-service activities
  • Experience with maintenance releases and Required Inspection Items
  • Experience working with aviation technical data and repair station documentation
  • Experience supporting audits, corrective actions, quality procedures and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to interpret FAA regulations
  • Ability to interpret manufacturer technical data and customer specifications
  • Ability to interpret repair station manuals
  • Understanding of document control
  • Understanding of shelf-life material control
  • Understanding of aviation parts segregation and scrap procedures

This position requires hands-on King Air maintenance experience and a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate. The Lead A&P Mechanic will perform and oversee maintenance, repair, inspection and modification activities while providing daily direction to aircraft mechanics and technicians.

Position Overview

The Lead A&P Mechanic supports a mixed fleet of fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft used for specialized flight operations.

This role leads aircraft maintenance activities while ensuring work is completed in accordance with FAA regulations, technical requirements and established procedures. The position also supports aircraft modifications, systems integration, ground testing, flight testing and certification activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance
  • Perform aircraft inspections, repairs and modifications
  • Assign work and provide daily direction to aircraft mechanics and technicians
  • Troubleshoot airframe and powerplant systems
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems
  • Perform and oversee structural repairs
  • Support aircraft modification work
  • Read and interpret maintenance manuals
  • Review engineering drawings, work instructions and regulatory documentation
  • Verify completed work meets safety, quality and airworthiness requirements
  • Complete and review aircraft maintenance records and technical documentation
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality Assurance and program leadership
  • Support aircraft systems integration
  • Support ground testing and flight testing activities
  • Support aircraft certification activities
  • Mentor less-experienced technicians
  • Promote safe and efficient maintenance practices
  • Provide approval for return to service when authorized and within the privileges of the individual’s FAA certificate

Qualifications

  • Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate required
  • Previous hands-on King Air maintenance experience required
  • Candidates without King Air experience will not be considered
  • Previous lead, supervisory or team-lead experience in an aircraft maintenance environment
  • Strong turboprop aircraft maintenance and troubleshooting experience
  • Experience performing aircraft structural repairs and modifications
  • Working knowledge of aircraft powerplants
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints and regulatory documentation
