Job Duties:

  • The candidate will ensure aircraft are maintained to airworthiness standards prescribed by applicable regulations, airworthiness directives, company policies and best practices.
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, adjust and repair different transport category aircraft airframes and engines using hand tools and test equipment.
  • Maintain the highest level of quality and integrity.
  • Adjust, repair or replace defective components based on analysis of test results while following maintenance manuals, schematics, handbooks and other technical documentation.
  • Use precision instruments and equipment to measure parts for wear and repair or replace as required.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a current and valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant certifications (A&P) with no history of infractions.
  • Recent A&P experience on turbine powered aircraft considered a plus.
  • Previous experience on the 737,757, 767, A320, ERJ 145/170/190, CRJ 700/900 is strongly preferred, but not required
  • Own set of standard line maintenance tools (calibrated & specialty tooling will be provided).

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and special maintenance to help prevent aircraft mechanical system and component failures
  • Perform operational checks on hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, plumbing, precision assemblies, rigging and controls
  • Determine whether components should be repaired or replaced
  • Identify required repair methods, parts and materials
  • Obtain necessary parts from Stores or departmental supplies
  • Repair, rework and modify worn or defective aircraft assemblies
  • Follow FAA-approved maintenance procedures and applicable OEM technical data
  • Follow work package instructions throughout maintenance and repair activities
  • Consult the Maintenance Lead when technical assistance is required
  • Inspect completed work before sign-off and identify any required rework
  • Ensure repaired components meet applicable standards and tolerances
  • Perform serviceability testing using OEM-specified test equipment
  • Complete work package documentation and required sign-offs
  • Submit completed and in-progress work to the Maintenance Lead for review
  • Submit work to Quality Assurance for inspection and recertification of airworthiness
  • Provide operational and performance information to supervisors as requested
  • Accurately account for time and materials used during maintenance and inspection activities
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant License
  • Two to five years of experience working with small aircraft or general aviation aircraft
  • Training and demonstrated proficiency on at least one aircraft type
  • Recent depot-level aircraft maintenance and repair experience
  • Experience repairing mechanical systems and components
  • Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Experience with aircraft plumbing, rigging and related mechanical systems
  • Ability to interpret OEM technical data and work package instructions
  • Experience using power and pneumatic hand tools
  • Knowledge of FAA aircraft maintenance requirements
  • Ability to inspect and install aircraft parts and components
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair and maintain aircraft equipment
  • Knowledge of machines, tools and maintenance practices
  • Ability to perform moderately complex technical assignments
  • Ability to support advanced-level technicians on more complex assignments

Working Conditions and Requirements

  • Ability to work safely while following OSHA, EPA, state and federal requirements
  • Ability to wear a respirator in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 when required
  • Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts as needed
  • Must participate in FAA-required random drug and alcohol testing
  • Ability to satisfy established work schedule requirements

Position Overview

The Director of Aircraft Maintenance Operations will oversee daily engine maintenance, production, stockroom and materials operations while providing leadership across multiple functional teams.

This position is responsible for coordinating maintenance and production planning, monitoring engine and component repair progress, supporting workforce development and driving continuous improvement across quality, safety, cost, productivity and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations for engine maintenance, production, stockroom and materials departments
  • Lead and support department personnel through training, development, performance management and staffing activities
  • Coordinate maintenance and production planning activities to maintain productivity and meet delivery goals
  • Ensure appropriate staffing, training, equipment and materials are available to support operational requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement in quality, safety, cost, productivity and on-time delivery
  • Ensure maintenance documentation and required entries are completed accurately and in accordance with applicable regulations
  • Monitor engine and component repair progress
  • Track work-in-process status and cycle times
  • Monitor financial performance related to operations
  • Communicate with customers regarding repair status, labor hours, progress and discrepancies
  • Conduct production and materials meetings
  • Provide operational leadership and guidance to department teams
  • Ensure facilities, tools and equipment are properly maintained
  • Ensure established safety standards are consistently followed
  • Work closely with Shift Leads and provide operational support during off-shift hours as needed
  • Participate in hiring, employee evaluations, training and disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Accountable Manager

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 10 years of aircraft engine maintenance experience
  • At least five years of supervisory experience or demonstrated experience managing inspection and/or production operations
  • Valid FAA A&P or Powerplant certification
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft engine production
  • Strong understanding of applicable FAA regulations
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance, safety and procedural documentation
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to remain calm and respond quickly in time-sensitive situations
