Position Overview

The Lead A&P Mechanic supports a mixed fleet of fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft used for specialized flight operations.

This role leads aircraft maintenance activities while ensuring work is completed in accordance with FAA regulations, technical requirements and established procedures. The position also supports aircraft modifications, systems integration, ground testing, flight testing and certification activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance
  • Perform aircraft inspections, repairs and modifications

  • Troubleshoot airframe and powerplant systems

Qualifications

  • Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate required
  • Previous hands-on King Air maintenance experience required
  • Candidates without King Air experience will not be considered
  • Previous lead, supervisory or team-lead experience in an aircraft maintenance environment
  • Strong turboprop aircraft maintenance and troubleshooting experience
  • Experience performing aircraft structural repairs and modifications
  • Working knowledge of aircraft powerplants
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals

Position Overview

The Station Production Controller is responsible for managing daily and overnight maintenance production plans, monitoring station capability, and aligning manpower, tooling, and materials with operational demand. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and control station production schedules and resource allocation to meet safety and operational objectives
  • Create, maintain, and update the Line Status Sheet Report

  • Maintain accurate station capability data including skills, tooling, manpower hours, and shift coverage
  • Liaise with Maintenance Control Center, Planning, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve resource constraints
  • Analyze production capacity, demand forecasts, and operational needs to proactively adjust staffing and priorities
  • Monitor planned versus available man hours and recommend adjustments as needed
  • Maximize downtime opportunities for defect resolution and communicate priority changes
  • Develop and implement procedures to improve efficiency, quality, and on time performance
  • Ensure compliance with airworthiness directives, service bulletins, maintenance program tasks, and internal procedures
  • Support out of service aircraft routing, recovery planning, and deviation management
  • Prepare and deliver reports and presentations on station production and performance metrics

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in the airline industry
  • Wide body aircraft experience strongly preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate degree in aviation maintenance, engineering, or related field preferred
  • Current and valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
  • Strong understanding of FAA regulations, aircraft maintenance programs, and MEL and CDL procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret AMMs, IPCs, wiring diagrams, task cards, and engineering documents

Position Summary:

To manage, direct and control FedEx heavy maintenance, modification and conversion programs at maintenance provider facilities to ensure that all activities are performed in accordance with the FedEx maintenance, modification and conversion specifications, schedule, configuration requirements and quality standards. Ensures all programs and work performed are in full compliance with the contractual requirements and the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Represents the Company as the project leader for all activities from an aircraft heavy maintenance, modification and conversion viewpoint at assigned maintenance provider facilities.
  • Coordinates company instructions and manages and controls the execution of maintenance, modification and conversion programs and makes final decisions regarding the induction and redelivery of aircraft from heavy maintenance, modifications and/or conversion visits at maintenance provider facilities.
  • Makes timely decisions regarding the repair or replacement of parts or components and the correction of all discrepancies noted during the scheduled maintenance, modification or conversion visits and assures airworthiness of aircraft redelivered to FedEx after work is accomplished at contract maintenance providers and signs airworthiness release as required.
  • Monitors contract maintenance providers for all hours expended, material issued and ground equipment required during the maintenance, modification or conversion visit and reviews all invoices for accuracy and negotiates and approves proposed hours to ensure FedEx is invoiced for fair and reasonable hours for the work performed and to ensure that the visits are performed within the specified budget.
  • Reviews FedEx heavy maintenance, modification and conversion maintenance packages as assigned to the maintenance provider, anticipates problems and recommends and coordinates possible solutions with the maintenance provider, other departments within FedEx and heavy maintenance and conversions management.
  • Ensures the successful flow of pertinent information between the appropriate departments within FedEx, the contract maintenance providers, flight crews and others associated with the heavy maintenance, modification and conversion of FedEx aircraft to ensure a complete understanding of the maintenance, modification and conversion specifications, requirements, policies and procedures and contractual arrangements.
  • Assures all heavy maintenance, modification and conversions performed by contract maintenance providers on FedEx aircraft are completed in a timely manner to minimize aircraft out of service time and that the appropriate FedEx departments are provided an accurate and timely status report of the aircraft in work.
  • Provides on-site review and surveillance of airworthiness directives and ensures all documentation is accounted for and recorded in the aircraft history as required per the FedEx GMM and the maintenance provider contract.
  • Maintains open communications and a good working relationship with the assigned maintenance providers to ensure all issues related to production, quality, safety, legal fitness, and cost control are identified, communicated, and addressed in a timely and effective manner.
  • At aircraft delivery to the maintenance provider facility, coordinates the debrief of the aircraft to the maintenance provider by the FedEx flight crew and coordinates with FedEx test flight personnel after completion of the assigned heavy maintenance, modification or conversion work and provides all pertinent documentation re: the work performed prior to ground and flight tests and ensures that all discrepancies discovered during the FedEx ground and flight acceptance tests are corrected.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent work experience plus five (5) years’ relevant experience in Aircraft Heavy Maintenance project and process planning and management
  • Knowledge of cross functional departmental processes preferred

Job Description:

Examines, repairs, assembles, and tests aircraft accessories, such as engines, power brake units, auxiliary electric motors, carburetors, spark igniters, valves, pumps, fuselage, wings, and oil and fuel tanks, using hand tools and testing devices, and following shop orders and manufacturer’s specifications.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine inspections or special maintenance to prevent failures of aircraft mechanical systems and components; performs complete operations checks on hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, plumbing, precision assemblies, rigging and controls, etc.
  • Determines when a component should be repaired or replaced; decides upon necessary repair scheme, quantity and type of parts needed to accomplish proper repair; secures necessary parts from Stores or departmental supplies.
  • Repairs, reworks, and modifies worn or defective assemblies, making alterations or changes to units when necessary.
  • Follows approved maintenance procedures for subject component or system, consulting internal procedures that have been FAA approved, original equipment manufacturer’s (OEM’s) technical data, and work package instructions.
  • Consults the Maintenance Lead if technical assistance is needed during the repair process.
  • Inspects completed work before sign off to identify any needed rework; performs rework; ensures that repaired components meet prescribed standards and tolerances.
  • Performs serviceability tests on repaired components/systems using test equipment specified by the original equipment manufacturer.
  • Completes work package documentation by signing/stamping after finishing all designated operations.
  • Submits completed/in-progress work to Maintenance Lead for review; submits to Quality Assurance for final/in-progress inspection and re-certification of airworthiness.
  • Provides supervisor with performance statistics and other operational data, as requested.
  • Properly accounts for time and materials used in all inspection and maintenance activities.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School/ GED
  • A&P

Experience:

  • Required: A & P License; minimum 2 to 5 years’ experience with small aircraft/ general aviation trained in one aircraft type; proficient and demonstrated skill with the aircraft.
  • Several years or actual and recent depot level aircraft maintenance and repair experience is required, (repair of mechanical systems, components, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, rigging etc.); proficiency with interpretation of original equipment manufacturer’s technical data or work package instructions; experience using power or pneumatic hand tools.

Position Overview

The Base Manager is responsible for supervising aircraft fuel system maintenance activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting technician development. This role requires hands-on leadership, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to manage maintenance operations in a fast-paced environment.

This position operates under FAA Part 145 requirements and must meet qualification standards outlined in 14 CFR 145.153.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise aircraft fuel tank maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alteration tasks in accordance with FAA regulations
  • Ensure continuity of maintenance activities and proper shift turnover documentation
  • Verify all maintenance is performed in accordance with applicable technical data and company procedures
  • Ensure confined space entry procedures are properly executed and monitored
  • Confirm appropriate tools, equipment, and maintenance data are used for all assigned work
  • Assign tasks only to personnel with the proper experience, training, and qualifications
  • Train, assist, and supervise technicians in proper maintenance practices and procedures
  • Serve as a technical resource for consultation and guidance on maintenance activities
  • Ensure only qualified mechanics sign off on completed work
  • Review and verify accuracy of maintenance records and documentation
  • Ensure all on-the-job training is documented and submitted to the Training Department
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work and shop areas
  • Ensure proper handling and control of parts during and after maintenance
  • Ensure all required tags and forms are properly completed and attached
  • Oversee completion of customer requirements for supplied parts
  • Delegate duties to qualified personnel while maintaining overall accountability
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Facility Manager
  • Maintain awareness of applicable FAA regulations including Parts 14, 65, and 43
  • Work a flexible schedule and operate in confined space environments as required

Qualifications

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant License required
  • Minimum of 4 years of aircraft systems maintenance experience
  • Must meet qualification requirements under RSM Section 4.6.9
  • Must meet supervisory qualification requirements under 14 CFR 145.153
  • Strong knowledge of fuel tank maintenance practices, procedures, and safety requirements
  • Ability to supervise, train, and mentor maintenance personnel
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and physically demanding environments

Preferred Skills

  • FAA A&P License with demonstrated ability to train and mentor technicians
  • Must have the ability to work with maintenance managers of all levels
  • Must be computer literate, and able to competently utilize basic software packages

Work Environment

  • Maintenance facility and aircraft environment
  • Requires working in confined spaces and physically demanding conditions
  • Flexible scheduling required to support operational needs

Tank Tigers, an STS Aviation Group company, is hiring an Aircraft Maintenance Station Manager in Memphis, Tennessee.

This position is responsible for supervising aircraft fuel system maintenance, preventive maintenance and alteration activities while ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately and in accordance with approved technical data, repair station procedures and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations.

The ideal candidate will hold a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant license and have at least four years of aircraft fuel system maintenance experience. This role requires strong technical knowledge, hands-on leadership experience and the ability to train and supervise technicians working in confined aircraft fuel tank environments.

Position Overview

The Aircraft Maintenance Station Manager will supervise maintenance personnel performing aircraft fuel tank maintenance, preventive maintenance and alterations.

This position reports to the assigned Facility Manager or OCC Manager/Director and carries responsibility for directing technicians, maintaining continuity of work, confirming personnel qualifications and ensuring all maintenance records and customer documentation are completed properly.

Because this role includes supervising and assisting individuals who may be unfamiliar with assigned fuel system maintenance tasks, the selected candidate must meet the qualification requirements established under 14 CFR Part 145.153 and Tank Tigers Repair Station Manual Section 4.6.9.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise aircraft fuel tank maintenance, preventive maintenance and alteration activities
  • Direct and support technicians who are unfamiliar with assigned maintenance tasks
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with applicable technical data and approved procedures
  • Maintain continuity of maintenance during shift changes and personnel reassignments
  • Ensure maintenance activities are properly documented and transferred between shifts
  • Confirm that confined space entry procedures are followed and monitored
  • Ensure appropriate tools, equipment and maintenance data are available and used correctly
  • Verify that assigned personnel have the required experience, knowledge or training
  • Train and supervise employees who are unfamiliar with maintenance practices or techniques
  • Provide technicians with guidance on proper work procedures and maintenance practices
  • Remain available for consultation regarding maintenance in progress
  • Ensure only qualified mechanics sign for completed work
  • Verify that maintenance records are completed accurately
  • Confirm that all work complies with applicable technical data and customer requirements
  • Ensure on-the-job training is documented and forwarded to the Training Department
  • Maintain clean and orderly work and shop areas
  • Ensure parts are handled properly during and after maintenance
  • Confirm completion of customer requirements for customer-supplied parts
  • Ensure all required tags and forms are attached and completed correctly
  • Delegate duties only to qualified personnel
  • Maintain responsibility for delegated work
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Facility Manager
  • Remain familiar with applicable requirements under 14 CFR Parts 43 65 and 145

Qualifications

  • Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant license
  • Minimum of four years of aircraft fuel system maintenance experience
  • Must meet the qualification requirements of Tank Tigers Repair Station Manual Section 4.6.9
  • Must meet supervisory qualification requirements under 14 CFR Part 145.153
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft fuel tank maintenance methods and procedures
  • Familiarity with the tools equipment aids and techniques used in aircraft fuel system maintenance
  • Ability to read and follow approved technical data
  • Experience supervising maintenance personnel
  • Ability to train and support technicians with varying levels of fuel system experience
  • Strong understanding of aircraft maintenance documentation requirements
  • Ability to ensure proper completion of maintenance records tags and forms
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Ability to enter and work safely in confined spaces
  • Ability to fit into small aircraft fuel tank areas

Preferred Qualifications

  • FAA Airframe license
  • Previous experience teaching or training aircraft maintenance technicians
  • Experience leading aircraft fuel system maintenance teams

Work Environment

This position requires hands-on work in aircraft fuel tank environments and other confined spaces.

The Aircraft Maintenance Station Manager must be able to work a flexible schedule and support maintenance activities based on operational and customer requirements.
