Position Summary

Core Responsibilities

New Product Development

  • Lead mechanical design from concept through production release
  • Develop complete and accurate 3D models, drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Perform required engineering analyses and participate in structured design reviews
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and validation

Existing Product Redesign & Continuous Improvement

  • Execute cost reduction and value engineering initiatives
  • Improve reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability of existing products
  • Process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) in accordance with change control procedures
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions

Product Data Management (PDM)

  • Maintain accurate CAD models, drawings, and revision history
  • Ensure proper file structure, naming conventions, and version control
  • Release documentation through formal workflows
  • Maintain complete and accurate BOM structures

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)

  • Ensure BOMs transferred to ERP are accurate and aligned with released drawings
  • Support part number creation and configuration accuracy
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Operations to resolve BOM discrepancies
  • Ensure engineering changes are properly reflected in ERP before production implementation

Engineering Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure designs meet performance requirements and applicable standards
  • Apply GD&T and engineering best practices consistently
  • Maintain full compliance with internal design control procedures

Additional Responsibilities & Accountability

Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFM/DFA)

  • Proactively design for efficient manufacturing, assembly, and serviceability
  • Engage manufacturing teams early to validate feasibility and reduce downstream issues
  • Minimize custom components when standard solutions are viable

Risk Management

  • Identify technical risks early in the design cycle
  • Conduct DFMEA or structured risk reviews when appropriate
  • Propose mitigation plans before issues impact project schedules or cost

Product Lifecycle Support

  • Support production ramp up and pilot builds
  • Provide technical assistance for field issues when required
  • Maintain long term product documentation integrity

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for design standardization and modularity
  • Improve internal engineering processes where inefficiencies are identified
  • Stay current on relevant materials, manufacturing methods, and engineering tools

Professional Conduct & Ownership

  • Take responsibility for design outcomes, both positive and negative
  • Communicate clearly and professionally across departments

  • Assist with fixture design, tooling improvements, automation opportunities, and capital equipment projects
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote manufacturing best practices throughout the operation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 5 to 15 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in a production environment
  • Hands-on Epicor ERP experience strongly preferred, including routings, BOMs, job methods, costing, engineering changes, and production transactions
  • Experience in metal fabrication, welding, heavy equipment, power systems, or engineered-to-order manufacturing environments highly preferred
  • Strong ability to read technical drawings, fabrication prints, and customer specifications
  • Experience creating SOPs, standard work instructions, routings, and scalable manufacturing documentation
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement tools
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively between engineering offices and production teams

This is a direct-hire, split shift opportunity supporting a privately held and growing manufacturer of UL heavy gauge steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures and modular metal enclosures used to house fully equipped electrical distribution and control equipment.

This role is ideal for an experienced welding professional with shop floor leadership experience, MIG welding and fabrication knowledge, strong blueprint reading skills, and the ability to train, motivate and guide employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Shift Schedule

  • Monday through Thursday
  • 12:00 PM to 10:30 PM Central Time

Position Summary

The Weld Lead will coordinate the daily activities of MIG welders and fabricators while helping ensure production work is completed safely, accurately, on schedule and to customer specifications. This position requires hands-on welding and fabrication knowledge, strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to support employees directly on the shop floor.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable assigning work, training team members, troubleshooting issues, reviewing blueprints, checking product quality and stepping in to assist with tasks as needed.

  • Experience working with advanced manufacturing equipment and processes preferred

Position Summary

The Production Supervisor’s primary role is to supervise and direct manufacturing operations. This position utilizes staff and equipment to meet safety, quality, productivity and customer satisfaction goals.

This is a 1st shift position.

Supervisor Functions

  • Support department initiatives and continuous improvement efforts that align with company strategy and key performance metrics
  • Solve day-to-day issues and escalate challenges to management in the areas of safety, quality, production, personnel and resource availability, including technology, financial and physical resources
  • Gather and deliver information in a timely manner while ensuring communication is understood by all direct reports
  • Provide constructive feedback to subordinates and hold employees accountable
  • Provide feedback to manager for performance reviews as needed
  • Lead by example and demonstrate the company’s core values of expertise, passion, agility and entrepreneurship
  • Treat all levels of the organization with respect, honesty and integrity while supporting diversity, inclusion, compliance and employee safety

Shop Floor Management

  • Maintain responsibility for Level 4 boards, employee position map and quality and delivery issues
  • Direct resources to meet daily production goals

Production Assembly and Projects

  • Utilize production scheduling tools to direct and maintain daily operations
  • Partner with Project Managers to provide oversight on all phases of assigned projects
  • Coordinate and collaborate with multiple departments to ensure project specifications are followed
  • Ensure quality standards are followed and address deviations

Quality and Continuous Improvement

  • Perform line audits for quality, standard work, safety and basic condition
  • Provide training for standard work and matrix updates
  • Maintain responsibility for One Point Lessons and I5’s
  • Provide Team Member support on other continuous improvement projects within the assigned area of responsibility

Reporting

  • Utilize company systems to complete organizational tracking and reporting
  • Make necessary improvement recommendations to management
  • Ensure work instructions, processes and procedures are followed as defined by the company
  • Address and resolve production issues to minimize production line downtime
  • Accurately enter, review, approve and submit timekeeping for direct reports by defined deadlines

Union Contract Administration

  • Understand and administer the collective bargaining agreement
  • Provide recommendations for contract changes
  • Use management skills to prevent and/or settle conflicts before they escalate through grievance stages

Safety

  • Provide assistance in support of the safety strategy to reduce work-related injuries
  • Conduct safety meetings and perform audits to help maintain the goal of zero lost time accidents
  • Promote a safe working environment
  • Perform all job functions safely and maintain safety awareness
  • Report known accidents, injuries and unsafe practices or conditions to the safety manager

Qualifications and Prerequisites

  • Associate’s Degree in a Manufacturing program required
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Five years of supervisory experience and union contract administration preferred
  • Excellent verbal, written and public speaking skills
  • Strong conflict resolution, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining long-range plans for the improvement of maintenance activities while providing technical assistance to the manufacturing departments supported. This position oversees personnel, materials, and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations in support of SPQRC initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Implement and actively support corporate safety policies, initiatives, and plant housekeeping standards
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions, determine root causes, and initiate immediate and long-term corrections
  • Support plant in achieving Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost goals
  • Supervise construction and maintenance projects
  • Assist in the implementation of divisional and corporate policies
  • Maintain schedule and quality requirements
  • Implement safety and good housekeeping standards
  • Train, develop, and evaluate employees

  • Completion of behavior-based competency assessments (DDI inventories and assessments)
