Position Summary

  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems preferred
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing specifications, and inspection procedures
  • Proficiency with inspection tools including scales, thickness gauges, micrometers, calipers, go/no-go gauges, dial indicators, and split ball gauges
  • Willingness to work any shift

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required
  • FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a certified aircraft mechanic
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in airframe and powerplant systems
  • Strong communication and computer skills
  • Ability to pass pre-placement physical exam, drug screening, and background check
  • For roving maintenance team members, sheet metal repair and/or avionics troubleshooting experience required
  • Ability to travel frequently, sometimes on short notice
  • Ability to work night shifts as required

Schedule & Location

  • 7 and 7 schedule
  • Must live within one hour or 60 miles of the assigned base
  • Travel between bases required

  • Use precision instruments and equipment to measure parts for wear and repair or replace as required.

  • Able to work outdoors and in inclement weather as required.
  • Work will be performed on various Commercial and Large Regional aircraft, including but not limited to the Airbus A320,737, A300, A330, CRJ, and Embraer 170.

Job Qualifications:

  • Must hold a current and valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant certifications (A&P) with no history of infractions.
  • Recent A&P experience on turbine powered aircraft considered a plus.
  • Previous Experience working on the Boeing 737 or Airbus A300, A320, A330 or A220 is desired, but is not required
  • Gen Fams on the 737, A300, A320, A330 or A220 will get you a HIGHER PAY RATE !!
  • Own set of standard line maintenance tools (calibrated & specialty tooling will be provided).
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude while being able to perform your job with minimal supervision.
  • With or without accommodations, employees must be able to work standing, climb ladders and stairs and must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Must be able to pass background check as well as drug & alcohol test. In addition, he / she must be able to obtain customs & border patrol clearance.
  • Must have basic-to-mid-level computer & organizational skills.
  • Experience working under a FAA approved Part 145 repair station or Part 135 experience is highly desired.
  • Inspection Authorization (IA) license is a plus.
  • Must be able to read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals and specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing, or replacing, malfunctioning and/or damaged components.
  • Ability to work with little supervision while being able to trouble shoot and repair systems on aircraft airframes and engine(s). This includes electrical, mechanical and hydraulic.
  • Versatility and flexibility will be important as the schedule could include days, nights, weekends and holidays.

Rate of Pay:

  • Rate of pay is determined by previous experience, and will range from $38-$44 based on previous experience.
  • Yearly raises are available upon evaluation.

Position Overview

Educational Background/Experience:

General Responsibilities:

  • Provide planning, administrative, budgetary, and reporting of assigned Modification or Heavy Maintenance lines.
  • Also, provides support to avionics, fuel, composite and paint.
  • Ensure work is performed safely within budgeted time and while remaining in regulatory compliance and meeting customer and company guidelines.
  • Performs and recommends management actions related to hiring, scheduling, employee development, coaching, mentoring.
  • Being the liaison point of contact between STS and the customer.
  • Any other duties delegated by the DOM, or VP of Operations.

Aircraft Structures Technician Job in Melbourne, Florida STS Aviation Services

STS Aviation Services is hiring Aircraft Structures Technicians in Melbourne, Florida. This role focuses on heavy sheet metal modifications and installations, including WiFi systems, winglets, interiors, and avionics.

Position Summary

As an Aircraft Structures Technician, you will perform complex structural work on commercial and large regional aircraft. Candidates must bring strong modification experience and be prepared to pass both written and hands-on assessments to demonstrate technical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural modifications including WiFi installations, winglet installations, interior modifications, and avionics system modifications and installations
  • Work on A220, A320, 737 and ERJ-175 aircraft
  • Ensure work is completed to the highest safety and quality standards
  • Follow all regulatory, company, and airport procedures while maintaining a clean and safe work environment

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience performing heavy structural modifications on commercial or large regional aircraft required
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license strongly preferred but not required
  • Must provide a complete set of basic hand tools to perform job duties
  • Must successfully pass a written and hands-on assessment test
  • Valid and current driver’s license required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain airport security badge
  • Must be able to work any shift or schedule as required

Pay and Schedule

  • These positions offer highly competitive pay, structured as a piece rate per aircraft.
  • Compensation will vary by project, depending on the type of installation or modification performed.
