In this role, you will set up and operate CNC and conventional machining equipment to fabricate precision metal components according to specifications. Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and production staff to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Participate in training and evaluation of team members.
  • Review blueprints, setup sheets, manuals, and sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, and sequence of operations.
  • Measure and mark reference points on materials and workpieces for accurate machining.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials for use with mills, lathes, borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • Calculate and set machine controls for speed, feed rate, coolant flow, and cutting depth.
  • Operate CNC and conventional machines to perform trial runs and verify setup accuracy.
  • Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions, making adjustments as needed.
  • Verify finished parts meet blueprint and specification requirements.
  • Install replacement parts, perform functionality tests, and ensure proper performance of equipment.
  • Maintain 5S standards for cleanliness, organization, and efficiency within the department.

Safety Requirements and Physical Demands

  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to read, see, hear, and speak English clearly.
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds; heavier loads with assistance.
  • May be required to operate cranes and forklifts as needed.
  • Work performed in a warehouse and fabrication shop environment with exposure to dust, fumes, and loud noise.
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor elements such as heat, cold, and precipitation.
  • Must use tools including hand tools, saws, grinders, mills, lathes, and drill presses.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, and steel-toed boots (provided by the company except boots).
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Actively identify hazards, report issues, and participate in safety training programs.

Requirements

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of machinist experience or equivalent
  • Experience with FANUC controls and horizontal boring machining required

Other Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Able to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.

    1st shift – 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM or 3:00 PM

  • 2nd Shift: Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 1:30 AM

Essential Job Duties

  • Set up all repeat jobs that are fully documented while ensuring consistency and adherence to established procedures
  • Run first-piece parts to meet print specifications and validate setup accuracy
  • Program CNC machines and perform edits to optimize performance and part quality
  • Conduct manual inspections of parts using inspection sheets and established criteria
  • Read and interpret blueprints at a medium to high level
  • Apply inspection protocols and complete required documentation
  • Apply knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing to ensure precision and compliance with tolerances
  • Operate multiple machines simultaneously within a production cell to maximize efficiency
  • Utilize advanced shop math, including trigonometry and geometry, to support machining operations and problem-solving
  • Mentor and train operators to promote skill development and consistency in repetitive tasks
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support production and team objectives

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or CNC technical diploma preferred
  • 5 or more years of machining experience
  • Mechanical interest and aptitude
  • Good math skills
  • Willingness to learn and grow
  • Experience setting up, operating and programming CNC machines
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Working knowledge of GD&T
  • Ability to inspect parts and validate conformance to print specifications
  • Ability to support multiple machines within a production cell

This role is ideal for CNC Operators with machining experience, mechanical aptitude, solid math skills and the desire to grow in a fast-paced production environment.

Position Overview

The CNC Operator performs operation and setup of complex machined components for a variety of industries. This position supports production by operating machine tools, making offset adjustments, reading basic blueprints, running multiple machines and helping ensure finished parts meet print specifications and quality standards.

Essential Job Duties

  • Operate machine tools and perform offset adjustments to ensure parts meet print specifications using written setup instructions
  • Perform repetitive machining tasks with consistency and attention to quality standards
  • Read and interpret basic blueprints
  • Correlate blueprint specifications with inspection protocols and documentation requirements
  • Assist in the setup of machine tools under the guidance of experienced machinists
  • Apply foundational knowledge of machining techniques and control functions to support production operations
  • Run multiple machines simultaneously within a production cell to maximize throughput
  • Utilize working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing to support accurate part production
  • Mentor and train operators on repetitive machining tasks to promote skill development and process consistency
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support team and production goals

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required
  • CNC technical diploma preferred
  • 2 or more years of machining experience
  • Proficiency with required measuring equipment for assigned work
  • Solid math skills
  • Strong mechanical interest and aptitude
  • Willingness to learn and grow
