STS Technical Services is hiring Aircraft Structures Technicians in Nashville, Tennessee. In this role, you’ll perform structural repairs and fabrication of aircraft parts, ensuring compliance with FAA standards and delivering safe, airworthy results.

Position Summary

Perform structural repairs and fabrication of parts with the ability to follow SRM instructions and/or engineering dispositions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Follow approved repair and modification procedures for components or aircraft, consulting FAA-approved procedures, OEM technical data, and work package instructions
  • Position and align subassemblies in jigs or fixtures using measuring instruments, blueprint lines, and index points
  • Inspect completed work to identify any needed rework before sign off; ensure all repairs meet prescribed standards and tolerances
  • Perform serviceability tests on repairs using test equipment outlined in technical manuals
  • Complete work package documentation by signing/stamping off after finishing all designated operations
  • Submit completed work to Quality Assurance for final inspection and re-certification of airworthiness
  • Fasten, support, or hang components and subassemblies using bolts, screws, or rivets
  • Cut, trim, and file parts; verify fitting tolerances before installation
  • Drill holes in structures and subassemblies; attach brackets, hinges, or clips to secure installation
  • Inspect and test installed units, parts, and equipment for compliance with performance and safety standards
  • Install units, parts, and components in structural assembly using hand and power tools
  • Locate and mark reference points for installation of parts using jigs, templates, and measuring instruments
  • Provide information and documentation for engineering requests
  • Comply with repair station procedures (RSM/QCM) and company policies (SOP) during all maintenance work

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • A&P and/or structures experience preferred
  • Repairman’s certificate may substitute for A&P

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience preferred
  • Proven aircraft structures repair experience with the ability to use technical data and aircraft drawings to accomplish repairs

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to fabricate parts and read work orders, blueprints, and specifications
  • Proficiency in the usage of air-powered hand tools and related equipment
  • Knowledge of machines, tools, raw materials, production processes, and quality control methods
  • Ability to work flexible hours and shifts as required
  • Strong understanding of FAA maintenance procedures and compliance requirements

Working Conditions / Special Requirements

  • Must adhere to OSHA, EPA, State, and Federal regulations at all times
  • Must be able to wear a respirator as per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 with no restrictions
  • Ability to work flexible hours and shifts
  • Subject to FAA-mandated random drug and alcohol testing
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to work indoors/outdoors in varying conditions
  • Physical requirements include:
  • Lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
  • Work above head level
  • Work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Climb as needed

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance functions such as cable routing, component removal and installation, wire harness removal and installation, fabrication and repair of wire harness assemblies, and continuity checks.

  • Act as a mentor and assist in training less experienced avionics technicians.
  • Interface effectively with management, engineers, and co-workers.
  • Perform other duties as instructed by the Check Manager or Certifying Engineers.

Required Qualifications

  • Must provide own tools.
  • Proficiency in English (read, write, speak, and understand).
  • Minimum of 24 months of experience troubleshooting and performing avionics repairs on military or commercial transport aircraft.
  • Minimum visual acuity of 20/40 corrected.

Position Overview:

Maintain, repair, modify, fabricate, and installation of parts, items, and assemblies of structural components using current technical data such as blue prints or manufacturers drawings/manuals.  Plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs both internal and external aircraft structures and surfaces for aircraft repair.  Performs repairs with varying sheet metal types, and thicknesses.  Remove and replace of various fastener types such as solid rivets, blind rivet, HI-Loc, etc.

Duties & Responsibilities:                            

  • Must have ability to read and follow all work instructions, as well as properly document work performed using documents such as process planning, adhesive log sheets, Material Review Board/Engineering Work Orders (MRB/EWO’s), Process Specifications, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Manuals, etc.
  • Must be able to read basic blueprints
  • Must be able to use close tolerance measuring tools (i.e., scales, micrometers, calipers, depth gages, etc.).
  • Must be able to use hand tools (i.e., drill motors, die grinders, rivet guns, fastener installation tools, etc.).
  • Must have ability to perform alignment/assembly using jig, templates and fixtures.
  • Must be able to perform trimming burring, countersinking, riveting, drilling and reaming to blueprint specified tolerance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience performing mechanical assembly in an aircraft, automotive, or similar environment is preferred.
  • High school diploma, GED equivalent
  • Able to stand, kneel, bend, and lift heavy objects (50 lbs.), for extended periods of time.

As a bond technician you will perform repairs on parts /components by means of “Wet Layup” and “Prepreg”.  Some repairs must be facilitated by the use of a clean room and cured by means of an autoclave.  Types of Composite bonding methods utilized in repair may consist of: Co-curing, Co-bonding, secondary bonding, metal bonding, with adhesives in liquid form, and film.

Duties & Responsibilities:                            

  • Repairs are made in accordance with current technical data and procedures.
  • Must be able to read basic blueprints
  • Must be able to use close tolerance measuring tools (i.e., scales, micrometers, calipers, depth gages, etc.).
  • Must be able to use hand tools (i.e., drill motors, die grinders, rivet guns, fastener installation tools, etc.).
  • Must have ability to perform alignment/assembly using jig, templates and fixtures.
  • PPE must be used when cutting, grinding, blending, and sanding
  • Extensive use of bagging materials
  • Must be able to properly bag for a wide range of component shapes and styles.
  • Capable of using a “Hot-Bonder” type machine cure procedure.

  • 5 years experience performing repairs on parts /components by means of “Wet Layup” and “Prepreg”
  • High school diploma, GED equivalent

STS Technical Services is hiring experienced AOG Travel Mechanics to join our team. In this role, you will inspect, troubleshoot, and repair transport category aircraft at both maintenance bases and remote locations. This position requires extensive technical knowledge, flexibility, and the ability to travel for AOG recovery and special projects worldwide. Candidates must be based in Anchorage, Chicago, Miami, New York, or Los Angeles… or be willing to relocate. Relocation assistance may be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot technical discrepancies and execute repairs on company aircraft
  • Accomplish aircraft inspections in accordance with company and FAA procedures
  • Utilize electronic test equipment, voltage/amperage measuring tools, and navigation troubleshooting equipment
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and technical orders
  • Inspect and assist in maintenance of company equipment and tooling
  • Collaborate with contract maintenance personnel and communicate discrepancies to Maintenance Control
  • Ensure all aircraft documentation is completed accurately before departure
  • Provide guidance to mechanics on advanced tasks and coordinate inspections/repairs
  • Organize daily tasks, coordinate tooling/materials, and support on-time aircraft departures
  • Perform manual and aircraft parts inventories as required
  • Follow all safety measures, shop practices, and cleanliness standards

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate
  • Minimum 7+ years of transport category aircraft maintenance experience (Boeing series preferred: 737, 777, 747-400, 747-800)
  • RII authorization required
  • Unrestricted engine run qualifications on 737, 777, and 747 aircraft
  • Bore scope qualified on CFM, Pratt & Whitney, or GE-90 engines
  • Formal training on advanced systems/avionics for 737, 777, and 747 aircraft
  • Valid passport with the ability to travel regularly for AOG recovery and projects
