Position Overview

Pilots in this role conduct critical care transport missions, providing rapid medical response in challenging and diverse environments. You will operate under IFR and NVG operations while delivering life saving patient transport services with professionalism and precision.

Operations include 24 hour coverage with day and night rotations while flying as Captain in EC135 aircraft.

STS Engine Services is hiring a Training Lead in Stansted, Essex, United Kingdom. This role sits at the centre of apprentice development and technical training within a growing Part 145 aircraft engine MRO environment. Position Overview

Reporting to the HR Manager, the Training Lead is responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining training programmes for apprentices and operational teams. This role ensures all training aligns with regulatory requirements while supporting the long-term development of aircraft engineers and technicians.

You will play a direct role in shaping future talent, maintaining compliance standards, and strengthening technical capability across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Training Delivery:

  • Develop and deliver structured training programmes for apprentices and the wider business, combining theoretical and practical instruction
  • Deliver on-the-job training aligned with individual learning needs and operational requirements
  • Design, deliver, and maintain company training programmes including Continuation Training, Human Factors, Form 1 Training, and bespoke modules
  • Conduct regular one-to-one meetings with apprentices to support development and track progress

Curriculum Development:

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop and refine training curriculum in line with regulatory standards and business objectives
  • Create and maintain training materials including manuals, guides, and digital resources

Apprentice Assessment and Appraisals:

  • Monitor and assess apprentice performance through testing, observation, and practical evaluation
  • Provide structured feedback and support to ensure competency development
  • Conduct formal annual appraisals and development reviews

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all training meets Part 145 regulatory requirements and internal standards
  • Maintain accurate training records and documentation for audit purposes
  • Support internal and external audits related to training and compliance

Mentoring and Support:

  • Act as a mentor and role model for apprentices, providing guidance and performance support
  • Address performance issues and support improvement plans where required

HR Reporting and Communication:

  • Provide regular progress reports to the HR Manager outlining apprentice development and performance
  • Work closely with HR and operational leaders to ensure alignment across teams

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay current with aviation training practices, technologies, and regulatory updates
  • Identify opportunities to improve training delivery and effectiveness
  • Support the development and improvement of apprentice recruitment processes

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to lead, mentor, and motivate
  • Relevant technical qualifications in aircraft maintenance or a related field
  • Experience working within a Part 145 MRO or similar aviation environment
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping capability
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
  • Committed to developing apprentices and supporting long-term career growth
