Senior Helicopter A&P Mechanic

STS Technical Services is hiring Senior Helicopter A&P Mechanics in Corsicana, Texas. This is a mission driven aviation role that directly supports life saving operations, and qualified candidates are eligible for a sign on bonus up to $15,000.

If you are an experienced A&P licensed mechanic with at least two years of certified aircraft maintenance experience and a passion for meaningful work, this is your chance to support critical helicopter operations while growing your career.

Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate daily maintenance and inspection requirements and complete tasks to maintain aircraft airworthiness
  • Notify the Lead Mechanic of unusual situations that require schedule changes, aircraft changes, additional manpower, or technical assistance
  • When at a field base, oversee maintenance for all assigned aircraft, monitor stock levels, and requisition parts as necessary
  • Ensure the safety and security of company assets at the assigned location
  • Prepare reports, requisitions, inventories, and certify aircraft logs and inspection forms in compliance with FAA, manufacturer, and client requirements
  • Complete maintenance records and system entries accurately and on time
  • Maintain close communication with the Lead Mechanic, AMBS, and other relevant parties to ensure timely job completion
  • Manage parts inventory and recommend level changes as needed
  • Maintain company provided special tools and ensure scheduled calibration is completed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required
  • FAA Mechanic Certificate with both Airframe and Powerplant ratings
  • Minimum of two years of maintenance experience as a certified mechanic
  • Strong communication and computer skills
  • Must pass a pre placement physical exam, including strength and flexibility assessment, drug screening, and background check
  • For roving maintenance team members, sheet metal repair and or avionics troubleshooting and repair experience is required
  • Must be able to travel frequently, sometimes on short notice, and work night shifts as needed

Schedule and Location

  • Seven and seven schedule
  • Position based in Corsicana, Texas
  • Candidates must live within a one hour drive or sixty miles, whichever is greater, from the assigned base
  • Travel between bases may be required

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

Modifications, repair, refurbishment and reinstallation of interior components are primary functions.  Ability to evaluate and adjust on modifications essential.  Job duties will vary each day and are designated by the Upholstery Team Leader.  May be required to work independently.

    Responsibilities:

    • Able to perform major modifications to seats and related items as required.
    • Must possess a working familiarity with different seat styles typical to aircraft.
    • Work independently on projects when required.
    • Work independently when required.
    • Perform complete upholstery refurbishment of aircraft seats from start to finish.  Such duties include inspection, disassembly and assembly, prep work, foam work, patterning, sewing and installation of dress covers.
    • Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling when required.
    • Cleanliness of shop and surroundings.
    • Assist with training to ensure job knowledge and performance of lesser-experienced employees.
    • Must be able to diagnose seat problems in and out of the aircraft and perform necessary corrective actions.
    • Must possess a thorough understanding of FAA flammability requirements for all materials used.
    • Must be able to complete all required paperwork per work order book.
    • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

    Job Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • 3 – 5 years experience on aircraft upholstery.
    • Knowledge of materials and foams used in aviation.
    • Knowledge of repairs and techniques used on various seat styles.
    • 1 – 2 years heavy modifications preferred.

    Initiative:

    • Self-motivated and able to maintain a rapid pace.
    • Able to process work with minimal supervision.
    • Written and verbal communication skills.

    Responsibility:

    • Able to perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
    • Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
    • Maintain customer oriented work habits.
    • Perform major modification work.
    • Training of lesser-experienced employees.
