Position Summary

The Aircraft Avionics Technician is responsible for installing, inspecting, testing, adjusting, and repairing avionics and electrical systems on aircraft. This includes radar, radio, navigation, communication, and control systems. Key Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, test, adjust, and repair aircraft avionics and electrical systems
  • Test and troubleshoot instruments, components, and assemblies using circuit testers, oscilloscopes, and voltmeters
  • Troubleshoot electrical and electronic system malfunctions and performance issues
  • Adjust, repair, or replace malfunctioning components and assemblies using hand tools and soldering equipment
  • Install electrical and electronic components, assemblies, and systems using hand tools, power tools, and soldering irons
  • Set up and operate ground support and test equipment to perform functional testing of avionics systems
  • Assemble electrical components including switches, controls, junction boxes, and wiring assemblies

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with aircraft avionics and electrical systems
  • MRO experience preferred but not required
  • Must provide own tools
  • Ability to use company timekeeping systems and intranet tools
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet company priorities

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to crawl in and out of confined spaces
  • Ability to work in a prone position for extended periods exceeding four hours
  • Comfortable working at elevated heights of up to 40 feet
  • Ability to lift, balance, and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in enclosed hangars and outdoor weather conditions

This position supports an FAA-regulated engine repair shop and test cell operation performing maintenance, inspection, overhaul, and testing on Pratt & Whitney JT8D turbofan engines used on Boeing 727, Boeing 737, McDonnell Douglas DC-9, and McDonnell Douglas MD-88 aircraft.

This is an entry-level mechanical position designed for individuals with prior hands-on mechanical experience who want to build a career in the aviation engine industry.

Position Summary

The Mechanic Helper assists licensed and experienced engine mechanics with engine overhaul, maintenance, and test cell preparation activities. Work is performed under the direct supervision of Leads, Maintenance Control, or Operations leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed mechanics with disassembly, cleaning, inspection preparation, and reassembly of engine components
  • Retrieve, organize, and stage tools, hardware, and parts required for assigned tasks
  • Support mechanics during engine build-up and preparation for test cell operations
  • Clean and prepare engine parts using approved methods and equipment
  • Perform basic mechanical tasks under supervision in accordance with approved manuals and company procedures

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn aviation engine systems
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work under direct supervision
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Basic computer proficiency; familiarity with Microsoft Office preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Valid driver’s license required

STS Technical Services is hiring Aircraft Painters in Melbourne, Florida.

Position Overview:

The Aircraft Painter is in charge of aircraft and its sub assemblies painting and sealing process including surface preparation, masking, and chemicals handling.  May include limited duties of paint and sealant application.

Job Duties:

  • Prepare surfaces to be painted or sealed as requested by the working instructions using abrasives, solvents, and brushes.
  • Installs masking for strips or other aircraft painting detail.
  • May perform sealant application assuring compliance with technical and quality requirements.
  • May assist with application or installation of logos, symbols, or designs on painted surfaces, according to blueprint specifications, using measuring instruments, stencils, and patterns.
  • Ensures the use of appropriate technical references and tools in performing paint and sealing duties.
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance of all currently used painting or sealing equipment.
  • Sets up ladders, and scaffolding according to regulations and aircraft requirement.
  • Ensures all Federal and local environmental and OSHA/TOSHA regulations are complied with.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Generally 1-3 years of related and recent experience in aeronautical environment.
  • High School or GED familiar
  • Knowledge of preparation and painting of aircraft, support equipment, and allied components.
  • Safety procedures for Chemicals handling.
  • Knowledge of blueprints and painting diagrams.
  • Strong ability on paint spraying
  • Understand technical management and quality assurance procedures.
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including, OSHA, EPA, State, and Federal regulations.
  • Must be able to be respirator qualified.

Lead A&P Mechanics

STS Technical Services is hiring Lead A&P Mechanics in Miami, Florida. This role is built for experienced aviation professionals who can troubleshoot complex discrepancies, lead teams on advanced maintenance tasks, and ensure aircraft are returned to service safely and on schedule.

Position Overview

The Lead A&P Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, modifying, and repairing aircraft while guiding mechanics through advanced technical work. This role coordinates manpower, tooling, and materials to ensure efficient aircraft maintenance and inspection coverage across each shift.

You will serve as a technical leader, supporting troubleshooting efforts, maintaining compliance with FAA standards, and ensuring documentation accuracy prior to aircraft departure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot technical discrepancies and execute repairs on company aircraft
  • Perform aircraft inspections in accordance with company procedures
  • Use electronic test equipment, voltage and amperage measuring devices, and navigation troubleshooting systems
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and maintenance manuals
  • Inspect and assist in maintaining company tooling and equipment
  • Coordinate with contract maintenance personnel and internal departments
  • Communicate discrepancies to Maintenance Control and execute corrective actions
  • Ensure all aircraft documentation is completed accurately per company and FAA procedures
  • Lead and guide mechanics on advanced tasks
  • Organize daily work assignments and coordinate aircraft inspections and repairs
  • Coordinate materials and tooling requirements for the shift
  • Act as shift manager when required
  • Schedule manpower to support aircraft maintenance and inspection coverage
  • Perform manual and aircraft parts inventories as required
  • Support on-time departure of aircraft
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant certificate
  • Three or more years of Boeing line maintenance experience
  • One or more years of lead experience
  • Formal training on advanced Boeing aircraft systems or avionics
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft software and digital maintenance manuals
  • Strong organizational skills and professional work ethic
  • Ability to work in variable weather conditions
  • Willingness to work rotating schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Valid passport or state-issued driver’s license
  • Ability to travel occasionally for AOG recovery or special projects
