This role is designed for experienced A&P licensed professionals who bring deep fuel systems expertise, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to safety, compliance, and quality.

Supervisors report to the assigned Facility Manager or OCC Manager or Director and are responsible for directing maintenance activities and overseeing technicians who may be unfamiliar with fuel tank maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alteration tasks. Due to supervisory responsibilities, this position must meet qualification requirements under 14 CFR Part 145.153 and RSM Section 4.6.9.

Job Summary

The Aircraft Fuel Systems Maintenance Supervisor oversees aircraft fuel tank maintenance operations while ensuring regulatory compliance, proper documentation, technician training, and safe execution of all assigned tasks. This role provides direct supervision, technical guidance, and hands on leadership within a Part 145 repair station environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain flexibility in shift scheduling, including potential nights, weekends, and holidays

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of heavy aircraft structures experience (transport-category aircraft)
  • Experience with non-porous metals: aluminum, titanium, stainless steel
  • Demonstrated ability with close-tolerance structural repairs and tooling
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering documents, and technical manuals
  • Familiarity with shop math and general aviation maintenance practices
  • Proficient in basic computer applications and aircraft-related software systems
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and under physically demanding conditions
  • Must be a U.S. citizen able to obtain customer approval for aircraft access
  • Dual citizenship or prior foreign citizenship may preclude access

Sr. Aircraft Ducting Technician

STS Technical Services is hiring an experienced Sr. Aircraft Ducting Technician to support aerospace component repair and fabrication operations in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This role is ideal for technicians with hands on experience working aircraft ducting systems, metal fabrication, and light composite processes in a regulated aviation environment.

Position Summary

The Sr. Aircraft Ducting Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of aircraft ducting system components. This position supports pneumatic and environmental control system hardware and requires a strong understanding of aircraft materials, fabrication techniques, and regulatory compliance.

The role reports directly to the Repair Shop Manager and works closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure all components meet performance, safety, and FAA requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform metal fabrication tasks including trimming, cutting, drilling, marking, dent removal, identification, and assembly of metallic parts
  • Fabricate components in accordance with work instructions, blueprints, engineering data, and production planning documents
  • Perform basic composite and insulation processes including hand lay up, curing, trimming, and insulation wrapping
  • Set up and operate fabrication equipment such as curing ovens, cutters, routers, sanders, and related machinery
  • Perform occasional welding fabrication processes with training provided
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment in accordance with safety and training guidelines
  • Use precision measuring instruments including tape measures, calipers, micrometers, scales, and height gauges to verify dimensions
  • Perform polishing, cleaning, and basic finishing operations per company standards
  • Accurately document material usage, traceability data, and shop traveler information
  • Support material handling, part movement, tool cleaning, and general shop activities
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and FOD free work environment
  • Follow written and verbal instructions from supervisors, leads, and production documentation
  • Communicate work status, technical issues, and improvement opportunities with team members and leadership
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and standardized work practices
  • Achieve departmental goals related to quality, productivity, and utilization
  • Perform additional duties consistent with metal fabrication and composite job families

Required Qualifications

  • Prior military or civilian experience performing maintenance on aerospace ducting systems
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and engineering documentation
  • Solid understanding of aircraft ducting systems and repair techniques
  • Knowledge of fabrication and fitting techniques, including dimensional changes before and after welding
  • Working knowledge of heat effects on materials during resistance spot welding, GTAW seam welding, and manual GTAW processes
  • Proficient with manufacturing and inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, scales, and gauges
  • Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to junior technicians
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Team oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in a shop environment with exposure to noise and chemicals
