Educational Background/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Airframe or Powerplant License
  • 5 years’ experience in aircraft heavy maintenance or modification
  • 5 years’ supervisory or lead experience in heavy maintenance or modifications
  • Working knowledge of FAA regulations pertaining to FAR Part 145 repair station operations

  • Being the liaison point of contact between STS and the customer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform aircraft structural maintenance, repair, and modification on components such as skins, frames, floor beams, and fittings.

  • Skilled in the use of rivet guns, drills, and sheet metal forming tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Boeing (737, 747, 767) and/or Airbus (A330, A340) platforms preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations, repair manuals, and quality assurance standards.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English (Spanish a plus).
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Position Summary:

To manage, direct and control FedEx heavy maintenance, modification and conversion programs at maintenance provider facilities to ensure that all activities are performed in accordance with the FedEx maintenance, modification and conversion specifications, schedule, configuration requirements and quality standards. Ensures all programs and work performed are in full compliance with the contractual requirements and the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Represents the Company as the project leader for all activities from an aircraft heavy maintenance, modification and conversion viewpoint at assigned maintenance provider facilities.
  • Coordinates company instructions and manages and controls the execution of maintenance, modification and conversion programs and makes final decisions regarding the induction and redelivery of aircraft from heavy maintenance, modifications and/or conversion visits at maintenance provider facilities.
  • Makes timely decisions regarding the repair or replacement of parts or components and the correction of all discrepancies noted during the scheduled maintenance, modification or conversion visits and assures airworthiness of aircraft redelivered to FedEx after work is accomplished at contract maintenance providers and signs airworthiness release as required.
  • Monitors contract maintenance providers for all hours expended, material issued and ground equipment required during the maintenance, modification or conversion visit and reviews all invoices for accuracy and negotiates and approves proposed hours to ensure FedEx is invoiced for fair and reasonable hours for the work performed and to ensure that the visits are performed within the specified budget.
  • Reviews FedEx heavy maintenance, modification and conversion maintenance packages as assigned to the maintenance provider, anticipates problems and recommends and coordinates possible solutions with the maintenance provider, other departments within FedEx and heavy maintenance and conversions management.
  • Ensures the successful flow of pertinent information between the appropriate departments within FedEx, the contract maintenance providers, flight crews and others associated with the heavy maintenance, modification and conversion of FedEx aircraft to ensure a complete understanding of the maintenance, modification and conversion specifications, requirements, policies and procedures and contractual arrangements.
  • Assures all heavy maintenance, modification and conversions performed by contract maintenance providers on FedEx aircraft are completed in a timely manner to minimize aircraft out of service time and that the appropriate FedEx departments are provided an accurate and timely status report of the aircraft in work.
  • Provides on-site review and surveillance of airworthiness directives and ensures all documentation is accounted for and recorded in the aircraft history as required per the FedEx GMM and the maintenance provider contract.
  • Maintains open communications and a good working relationship with the assigned maintenance providers to ensure all issues related to production, quality, safety, legal fitness, and cost control are identified, communicated, and addressed in a timely and effective manner.
  • At aircraft delivery to the maintenance provider facility, coordinates the debrief of the aircraft to the maintenance provider by the FedEx flight crew and coordinates with FedEx test flight personnel after completion of the assigned heavy maintenance, modification or conversion work and provides all pertinent documentation re: the work performed prior to ground and flight tests and ensures that all discrepancies discovered during the FedEx ground and flight acceptance tests are corrected.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent work experience plus five (5) years’ relevant experience in Aircraft Heavy Maintenance project and process planning and management
  • Knowledge of cross functional departmental processes preferred
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to effectively lead multiple projects
  • Strong organizational, time management, interpersonal skills with ability to effectively multi-task
  • Comprehensive computer skills using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Business Objects
  • Comprehensive presentation, verbal and written communication skills
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred

STS Line Maintenance is hiring A&P Mechanics in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Position Summary:

STS Line Maintenance is looking for highly motivated Aircraft Maintenance Professionals to help us grow our line maintenance station in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The A&P Aviation Maintenance Technician supports the daily needs of the maintenance operations for our customers and ensures an outstanding experience by providing top-level service.

STS Line Maintenance is one of the largest line maintenance support providers in the United States, and we pride ourselves in providing high quality and reliable aircraft maintenance support  throughout our extensive, rapid-response, nation-wide network.

Position Overview:

  • This position reports directly to the Line Maintenance Station Manager and Station Leads. Candidate will work in close partnership with the field airlines, flight crew and other Aircraft Maintenance Controllers.
  • The candidate will ensure aircraft are maintained to airworthiness standards prescribed by applicable regulations, airworthiness directives, company policies and best practices.
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, adjust and repair different transport category aircraft airframes and engines using hand tools and test equipment.
  • Maintain the highest level of quality and integrity.
  • Adjust, repair or replace defective components based on analysis of test results while following maintenance manuals, schematics, handbooks and other technical documentation.
  • Use precision instruments and equipment to measure parts for wear and repair or replace as required.
  • Other duties as may be deemed necessary.
  • Able to work outdoors and in inclement weather as required.
  • Work will be performed on various Commercial and Large Regional aircraft, including but not limited to the Airbus A320, CRJ, and Embraer 170.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a current and valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant certifications  (A&P) with no history of infractions.
  • Recent A&P experience on turbine powered aircraft considered a plus.
  • Previous experience on the A320 family, 737, Embraer 170/190, CRJ 200/700/900 is strongly preferred, but not required
  • Own set of standard line maintenance tools (calibrated & specialty tooling will be provided).
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude while being able to perform your job with minimal supervision.
  • With or without accommodations, employees must be able to work standing, climb ladders and stairs and must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Must be able to pass background check as well as drug & alcohol test. In addition, he / she must be able to obtain customs & border patrol clearance.
  • Must have basic-to-mid-level computer & organizational skills.
  • Experience working under a FAA approved Part 145 repair station or Part 135 experience is highly desired.
  • Must be able to read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals and specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing, or replacing, malfunctioning and/or damaged components.
  • Ability to work with little supervision while being able to trouble shoot and repair systems on aircraft airframes and engine(s). This includes electrical, mechanical and hydraulic.
  • Versatility and flexibility will be important as the schedule could include days, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Superior customer focus, communication skills, and work ethic with a commitment to excellence.

Rate of Pay:

  • Rate of pay is determined by previous experience and formal training.  Starting pay rates will range between $36-$40 DOE
